Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolor Paper, Wired, 5" x 7", Cold Pressed

I usually use Etchr or Saunders Waterford, but I decided to give this a try. The paper feels slightly different, but not in a bad way. Etchr and Saunders feels very velvety, almost like suede, and while this didn't have that texture, it performed very well. Water seems to dry SLIGHTLY quicker, and it takes a lot of glazes very well. I didn't have any issues with blooming, but I mostly work wet on dry. Granulating watercolors looked great on this. My only complaint is that the wire bound pad doesn't come in more sizes, and I prefer to work in this format. I don't do large wet washes or lift colors, so I can't help with that. Over all, great paper, as expected from W&N. Will purchase again.

Great product and shipping

I like this paper. It’s a watercolor pad not Block which works well on the go. The size is easy to carry and is durable. It can handle wet on wet and the texture is uniform. It’s very easy to use and I feel it’s a good value item.

It’s a do-able size, not too big, not too small. I love the grain of the paper. Painting with watercolors can be tricky, but in the end it’s the paper that makes or breaks a project. Colors dry and blend well, even using several layers to get the color you desire. And it takes permanent pen ink well too with so smears or bleeding. It’s my go-to pad of paper for my artwork.

Everyone loves Arches….i do too! However I love this particular brand and book as a nice little travel or notebook to do small pieces. Very nice texture that is very similar to Arches cold pressed. I will buy this again and again.

I wanted to try the Winsor & Newton professional watercolor paper and thought this wired sketchpad would be fun! It's good 100% cotton paper and the pad lays flat, but the paintable area is only 5" x 6 5/8” so you can't remove the sheets and put them in a standard 5" x 7" frame. (See Photos.)

This is just lovely and a bit smoother than other cold pressed so if you want that toothy finish, this isn't it. It's almost like a cross between hot and cold but it absolutely holds water. I love how white it is as most I've used are just a tad off white. Winsor and Newton is just a dependable brand when it comes to watercolor. I would put this with the best I've used .. like arches and sanders Waterford but I'm not a professional by any means, just a huge fan of watercolor everything.

I love the quailty and the size for my small watercolor projects! Its high quality cotton paper is a necessity for watercolor paintings. I've purchased several and will be purchasing more.
