A Novice Review
I am a novice learner, but this book was a recommendation from a dear friend who is a PhD in Aerospace. The title has never disappointed when it comes to finding facts. The treatment on Bernoullis principle and the lift geenration and air foil design is delightful to go through. I couldnt understand the interplay of Angle of Attach and Speed and lift, from even the stick and rudder title. Excellent conceptual treatment for a class of books which are geared to be operator's manuals.

Good PPL Book
Covers all the necessary topics for the Private Pilot Knowledge Test.Does so in a readable and clear manner.Very good value for money compared with the "glossy" training book...and also a great deal lighter to carry around!

Great Starting Point and Well Rounded
Great way to learn about all subjects within the private pilot certification requirements. You probably don't want to use it solely for reference as it's written like a book. The book is VERY straight forward but if you don't like reading then this isn't the time to try.

Not sure what the target audience is for this book
I am a student pilot, and I bought this book to help me pass the knowledge test. The problem is that although the book is informative, there is not nearly enough in here to pass the Private Pilot knowledge test. It is also written in a very boring style, and as such I don't think would have much appeal to someone casually looking at flying or someone who wants to just get their feet wet with regards to what it takes to become a pilot. If you want a good book for the knowledge test get The Pilot's Manual: Ground School: All the Aeronautical Knowledge Required to Pass the FAA Exams and Operate as a Private and Commercial Pilot (Pilot's Manual series, The), very comprehensive & well illustrated book that will give you everything you need to pass the test. If you want something a little lighter get "Your Pilot's License" by Jerry Eichenberger, he has a very interesting conversational style, I read that book after my discovery flight with my instructor, I think it really saved me some lessons with the knowledge I gained. Pass on this book.
