The Let It Be album has been newly mixed by producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. All the new Let It Be releases feature the new stereo mix of the album as guided by the original "reproduced for disc" version by Phil Spector and sourced directly from the original session and rooftop performance eight-track tapes. Now available on 180-gram heavy vinyl. Review: Fans of all ages will like this album. - Great album arrived in good condition. I recommend this album to Beatles fans of all ages. Review: Sounds amazing - Such a good album and it plays perfectly, with no defects and the record isn't warped whatsoever. I can't find anything bad to say about it

Great Re-Mastered Copy of Let It Be
I bought this remastered copy of Let It Be on vinyl so that I could preserve my original copy from 1970 which has the red apple label. This remastered vinyl copy sounds amazing and the bass and drums are now more noticeable and the overall sound is crisp and clear.

New highlights in an old favorite
I just picked up a new copy of LET IT BE by THE BEATLES and found that when I played it on my new Stereo there were all kinds of background comments that I had never heard before. I will be exploring this disc for a great deal more as far as the other comments from the members of the Band, and other notes and chords that I have never heard before because I never had the gear to catch them.

Better than Original, Not as Good As Some
I just got this new 2021 Giles Martin remaster of Let It Be as a record-of-the-month. The reviews on it have been extremely mixed, so I took it over to a friend's place to evaluate because he has a near-mint pressing of the original mix that he bought in London in 1972. I also brought along my copy of the 2009 remix. My impressions are: The original version is thin. The bass is defined but anemic. The drums are pushed back in the mix. The emphasis is on vocals and lead instrumentation, and was fattened up in many places by Phil Spector after the fact by decision of the record label and without approval of the band. This version probably sounded great on the radio at that time, but certainly doesn't impress on a good stereo. However, it is what was available and is the standard against which to measure for over fifty years. The 2009 remix that I have was a product of an extensive reissue to CD that saw the whole Beatles catalog digitized from the master tapes. It was a meticulous process designed to make the music sound as good as possible. The later vinyl stereo box set came from this process and, in spite of the many quality control issues that destroyed what should have been a triumphant release, the records actually sound good. (You almost can't give these stereo boxes away now, they were so flawed in manufacturing.) My version of Let It Be from this period, however, sounds very nice. Compared to the original, the drums are more discernable and the bass is tighter and more present. The whole thing is better equalized for tighter mids and clearer highs. It isn't tremendously fatter than the original mix but it is much more satisfying. AND NOW, the 2021 remaster - I am completely unimpressed. The drums are, indeed much more forward. This album has a lot more bass presence than any other version I have heard. However, the bass is often boomy or floppy, sometimes overwhelming the track. It sounds much more like a live performance, but not in a good way, and not only on the live-recorded songs. It actually works pretty well on Get Back. But on most of the record it simply obscures other facets and sounds uncontrolled. For example, along with the bloated bass, the vocals suffer a bit for the change. Mainly, if you bring bass frequencies up in the mix, something else has to give way to make room. In this case, it's the vocals and keyboards. My third complaint is that somehow, in all this remixing and remastering, the Phil Spector Wall Of Garbage has become somewhat more noticeable. Without debating the merits of whether or not Spector should ever have been involved, it is generally accepted that his contributions were more of an intrusion than an enhancement. The original album keeps those orchestrations even in the mix, accentuating the vocals and lead instruments. The 2009 version manages to maintain that fairly neutral position, allowing the songs to be thickened without excessive distractions. This new 2021 remaster doesn't exactly push the backing music forward so much as it alters the balance of instrumentation in the mix allowing the Spector additions to establish a more prominent place. There are harp trills and choral flourishes that have become distracting, where I never noticed them much before. In one way, this has been a revelation to me. I am hearing things in Let It Be that I hadn't previously identified, and I can actually appreciate the artistry required to graft a new production onto the existing raw album. I find it annoying and distracting. My listening partner and I agree that this could have been a wonderful album but, instead, it is a wasted opportunity. I much prefer my 2009 remix over both this 2021 remaster and the original. Having access to several versions, I will hang onto this one as a curiosity. If I were shopping for my one and only copy of this cool album, I would seek out the 2009 reissue.

Inacceptable ! Les re-pressages des années 80's coutaient 5€, aujourd'hui 32€ pour un re-pressage approximatif...
