Fashion Draping Techniques Vol. 2: A Step-by-Step Intermediate Course. Coats, Blouses, Draped Sleeves, Evening Dresses, Volumes and Jackets

This is a Christmas present for my sewist daughter. She loves it.

This book is great with it's step-by-step and easy to follow photos. Glad I got it and will be purchasing the rest of the series from this author.

The importance of fabric was a good section as one will quickly learn. Each fabric has certain properties and you have to learn them to know what will work. The work tools section was a standard section showing which tools you will need. Since this is an intermediate book though. I think this section wasn't needed and should definitely have been covered in book one, as it is beginner information. Then you go into the 7 projects to be completed. I was a bit disappointed as I did not like the garments to be completed. Such is the importance of finding instruction and inspiration that blends well with your aesthetics. Lastly the glossary of fabrics. Its 6 pages so nothing in depth but again for an intermediate book, I was expecting something more...perhaps a section detailing how to drape with tricky fabrics like sequins. The book does exactly what it says it will do. The photos were clear, the explanations were helpful and a balanced book overall. Is it worth it? For me no. I was looking for a book that would introduce interesting draping designs and the designs presented were not to my taste. A lot of them seemed to look frumpy and overly draped. However, that may be anothers style and the books instruction is easy to follow. Well written, well illustrated an overall good buy for the price but not my aesthetic.

Eu gosto muito da técnica de moulage. Criar drapeados é muito divertido e interessante. Por ser um material em inglês, pode ser uma barreira para alguns. O material é bem rico e por ser o volume 2, seja necessário um conhecimento básico de moulage.
