Everyone needs to read this book - I read it 40 years ago and bought it to re-read now

A book everybody should read

I had heard of Animal Farm and had an idea of the premise of the Book. Animals get rid of Human beings and take control of the Farm themselves in direct mimicking of the Russian Revolution and the beginning of Communism. I didn't realise this was an essay of no more than 150 pages, so that was a shock. However the book does deal with the Human nature, ie, Humans are corruptible and will Always seek to improve their own situation over that of others at every single opportunity. In Animal Farms case this takes the form of the Pig Napoleon. Napoleon promises the Farm animals all the things they craved under Mr Jones the Farmer self governance, an equal share for all, retirement after a set number of years labour, warm living conditions, more food, less work, more leisure time etc. None of this happens of course as over time Napoleon and his pig comrades take more of the spoils for themselves leaving the other animals without and uses his loyal trained Dogs to threaten the Animals into working harder for less and less and as time goes by the farms rules are changed to benefit the pigs over every other animal. At the end of the essay, the Pigs have become so removed from the animals they were they are indistinguishable from the Humans they got rid of for treating them so badly in the beginning. Just as Communism promises yet fails to deliver whilst the leaders live in palaces. In the end Animal Farm is a warning to all never to look a gift Horse in the mouth. If someone is promising something that sounds too good to be true it always will be just that and that if it is being promised it is because someone will always be benefitting from it not you.

Needed to re- read this to remind myself of the whole story!

Such a wonderful book. It’s as relevant today in 2025 as it was when it was written. We are all equal indeed ! Just some are more equal than others. I highly recommend this book to teenagers and adults alike. It opens your mind and understanding.

I personally found it a bit boring but it’s my personal opinion. Book came as mentioned.

على الرغم من كونها رواية عن مزرعة حيوانات و تمردهم و المعنى اعمق من المكتوب ، كل صفحة تجذبك للصفحة اللي بعدها ، طريقة السرد مشوقة و ابداعية لأبعد درجة استمتعت و انا اقرأها من كل قلبي تمنيت انها اطول من كذا ، الملاحظات المرفقة بالرواية توضح المقصد من كل حدث ، تستاهل ١٠/١٠ 🩷🩷

Kargo hizli geldi. Kitap kullanilmamis sifir ama biraz yipranmis geldi arka kapaginda bukulmus gibi kirisik, sayfalar cok dağınık geldi.

It was an excellent book with a high and great loving quality
