does this come with the string? description says yes but some reviewers saying no

When New, the book comes with a string. The item we have in our inventory does not include the string. It is a Used book and often when we get books like this, we do not receive the materials that are supposed to come with them. I can only speak for the item in our inventory, not those that other sellers have.

How long is the string?

It is a woven multi-colored 56 inch in circumference continuous-circle string.

Where is product made?

It’s made by a company call Klutz, which has a United States address. NY, NY specifically.

do boys like this too?

Boys or girls could like this and yet my son has no interest in it while me daughter really enjoys it. Would have to depend on the boy.
