Recommend!
This works like a charm! I was able to get this working with a 1994 Barbie Doll, my windows 11 laptop, and a Win 98 VM. The LEDs are extremely helpful in seeing the data transfer, and I'm really glad I bought this cord :)

Solved My Problem
I needed to update the firmware in a ham radio transceiver. I tried to use the cable and interface provided by the radio manufacturer and it would not communicate with the radio. My computer does not have an RS-232 interface (few do now) so I had to find a compatible USB to 9-oin serial interface. This one did the trick and was easy to set up. The workmanship for the cable is excellent and the LEDs in the 9 pin connector are somewhat helpful but not entirely necessary for my purposes. The only issue was that the 9 pin connector is a male connector and I needed to to have a female connector. Fortunately, I had a compatible gender-changer cable on hand. I bought the 4 foot length cable. I wish that they made a 6 foot version but I was able to get by with the 4 foot. The other available lengths are much too long. Bottom line: excellent, sturdy cable. Recommended.

Could not load driver from CD
Windows 11 recognized and installed driver automatically. Could not load driver from included CD as there was some sort of file error based on how it was named. The device worked fine - but the installation instructions were incorrect/ did not work.

Nice quality adapter for use with old hardware
I'm using this USB-to-serial adapter to connect a modern (2014) Mac laptop to a vintage Apple II computer via a null modem cable. So far, it's working great. I've use it for file transfers at 115kbps. No trouble with drivers. I chose this adapter because I'd read the FTDI chipset is still well supported. The cable length is good, and it appears well-made. The LED inside the adapter is an interesting touch. I don't need it, but it's nice to have something that immediately confirms there is a connection.

Works with Windows 11
Using this to connect to the serial port on a linux box (with null modem adapter) and RS232 management interfaces on other devices. Device shows up as a COM port in Windows Device Manager. COM port number, speed, stop bits, etc., can be set there. While the driver did not automatically download, I was able to install it by selecting Update Driver in Device Manager.Bought this to replace a USB-RS232 adapter based on the Prolific 2303TA. While that adapter worked fine on Windows 10, Prolific has EOL'ed the 2303TA and it is not supported on Windows 11.
