Hunza Organic Red Lentils (2 lbs)

The lentils are fine. The cost is about 70% greater than what you can buy similar organic lentils for in the local supermarket. If you don't mind overpaying by a significant amount then these lentils are for you. Everything else I have ever bought on Amazon has been available at a cheaper price than I would pay in a local store, except these. Needless to say, I won't be buying these again.

Delicious, simple lentils, easy to prepare, even have cooked in a small rice cooker.

I didn't like these at all. Seemed to take forever to cook and get soft. I gave them away. These are grown in mexico or somewhere not in USA.

I absolutely love that these Red Lentils are organic!! They are beautiful!! Made them last night for a family gathering and everyone loved them!! Rinse them, soak them for 30 minutes, then cook for around 30-40 minutes. They actually cook quicker, 15-20 minutes, but the recipe I used called for 30-40 minutes. Instead of cooking them in water, I used Vegetable broth. I cooked and seasoned these Red Lentils with spices, onion, garlic, tomatoes, and cilantro. These made a quick high protein nutritious packed meal! They have a wonderful flavor! I'm so happy they are grown in the USA and are Non-GMO! Comes in a zippered pack to keep them fresh!! Type "Recipes for Red Lentils" in a search engine and choose a recipe that suites your tastes. Red Lentils are a very healthy food!! They contain: molybdenum, folate, fiber, copper, phosphorus, manganese, iron, protein, vitamin B-1, pantothenic acid, zinc, vitamin B-6 and potassium. They are good at lowering cholesterol and keeping blood sugar from rising too rapidly after a meal. I read that lentils placed in boiling water are easier to digest than lentils that are brought to a boil. Recipes differ, but you use 3 cups of water for every cup of lentils. We love lentils and these are great. I hav been looking for ren lentils for ages for a recipe, which I now can't find, lol but I found a few others. That are really good. And they at really good mixed with quinoa, jus rinse the lentils first. I made that last night to serve with salmon and it was really good. I just boiled it up following the quinoa recipe, with a vegetable bullion. I also make a lamb and lentil stew, these red lentils gave it a really nice flavor, they have a different texture than brown lentils and taste even better. I hav had organic lentils before and multi colored but not just red. I am looking foward to playing around with some recipes with these, and will most defitanly make more of my quinoa with red lentils, I really loved that, and it can keep for a week, and be added to salads or as a side dish. These really have a great taste and are very healthy for you. I have a few Indian food recipes that call for these and plan on doing some more cooking, they will be great mixed up with rice too. These really are great red lentils, they didn't come with any recipes, which isn't really plus but you can find recipes everywhere, I love foodnetwork.com and Pinterest for finding recipes. And there are lots of lentil recipes out there. I was lucky enough to get this at a discounted price in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Delicious and organic! We have been trying to cut back on the meat in our diets that past year and so have been eating much more in the way of beans and legumes. It's hard to find organic beans and lentils where we are, so I have been extremely pleased to find Hunza Natural Foods products on Amazon. We have tried a variety of their products and without exception they have all been terrific quality, and these lentils are no exception. Very clean, few broken or damaged pieces, and they cook up quickly for a healthy dinner in a hurry. The flavor is good, and they make a delicious Dal.I also appreciate the packaging - the bags are pretty tough and hold up fine to being tossed into the pantry, and they are resealable which is excellent as it makes it easy to store them for our small family.
