Very reliable, easy to install, fun to work with.
I have at least one of all the Echo devices and numerous switches and plugs by various manufacturers. My home is pretty much as "smart" as I can make it (or want to make it). I tried several manufacturer's switches and the best, most reliable, easy-to-install are by Eufy and Amazon. The most important thing to know is how they respond to a power failure or the internet going down. I have tried switches that you have to basically reset or re-install them individually if you get a power failure. They should come back up quickly and work as though nothing happened when the power comes back on and the internet comes back up. For that reason, I never use smart light bulbs.....when the power goes out, they are ON when the power comes back up. Apparently Eufy no longer sells switches and plugs, but if you have an Alexa environment, Amazon switches are great. They pretty much self install. I only have single pole switches, so I have no experience with the 3-way versions. I have had a lot fun playing with smart switches and plugs and Alexa routines. They turn on my coffee in the morning, control my garage door opener, my gate, cameras, and my thermostats.....and a lot of other things. There are some fun things you can do as well. For example, some years back I bought an old stop light at a recycle center. No circuitry, just the frame with the lights and reflectors. Never done much with it. You can buy a little circuit board that lets you flash the lights in various combinations, but bleah....I wanted it to FUNCTION in some way. As you know, stop lights have a red, yellow, and green. What if I could use Amazon switches and Alexa routines to make it trigger on the garage door? Hmmmm... I purchased three switches and mounted them in a little wooden box and wired them to the three lights in the stop light, calling them "Red", "Yellow" and "Green". The "box" just plugs into the wall providing power to the switches. My garage door opener is controlled by a Meross smart opener. That is, I can open and close it with the Meross app or by Alexa voice. It also supports Alexa routines. I can trigger a routine by the door opening or closing. Cool! I created this routine called "Stop Light" to trigger the lights: When: Garage Door (the name of the device) is unlocked. Alexa will: Red will power on Wait 5 seconds Yellow will power on Red will power off Wait 5 seconds Green will power on Yellow will power off Wait 5 seconds Green will power off. The timing here means that the stop light turns green just as the door is fully open. My wife was delighted! LOL! Love these Amazon Basic Switches. Their plugs are great as well. Pretty much standardized on these.

Easy install, easy to use
EDIT 6/29/26 GMS. It was not hard to install these - I bought two of them. They stopped working after 3 months. It was because the WAP they were connected to had its DHCP turned on, which is wrong. (The router has the DHCP server!) After changing the WAP setting, I reset the switches, set them up again, and all is OK.

Works perfect with Alexa
Easy installation. Works well with the Alexa app. This is not dimmer switch. It is a basic on/off switch. Now I can control my lights without getting up from my couch. I will likely get fat and lazy.

works well.
Installation wasn't too bad, you need the neutral wire at the box, so check b4 ordering. Needed to push wires to the back of the box. I had a 2 switch box, and the old switch cover fits pretty well. Setting up required turning off and on the power a couple of times before it showed up on my Alexa app. I used it on a garage light that has a motion-sensor that gets triggered when it is windy. I set up a routine so I can ask Alexa to shut the light off for the night and another couple automatic routines to get it to correctly reset in the morning. I was concerned about the distance from the router and the fact it is outdoors, but it connects.

Quite possibly the greatest product to come from Amazon
I cannot stop singing the praises of these switches. I have these on every exterior light on the house, and if you are like me and forget to turn outside lights off, and find out 4 days later that they have been on for the whole time, you need these. I have one of these on every switch of all of my exterior lights. Garage, porch, side, etc. through Alexa, they turn on automatically at the same time “30 minutes before sunset” and off at 11. No remembering, no funky dial timer, they just all work together all the time. If internet goes out, all still function as normal switches. I wasted money with wifi bulbs that never stayed connected, these have been no problem. It allows me to be mildly ocd and keep all my external bulbs the same. Same temp, same output, you get the idea. Now, they may not work on every switch. You do need a neutral line to the wall box, like most every smart switch requires, so if you only have a hot leg running to a switch and a ground, you will be out of luck, but that’s more often found in interior lighting than exterior lighting. Anyways, can’t beat these for the money, especially if you already run an Alexa ecosystem. 10/10 would recommend and do again. The dimmer option works fine as well, but normal switch is my favorite.

Excellent option for Pentair IntelliBrite control on a budget
My installation is not the most common one. I have 2 x Pentair IntelliBrite LED in my pool controller by a regular mechanical on/off switch. To change color you need to toggle this switch a set number of times for the desired color combination. For $400 Pentair will sell you a switch that requires no manual toggle to switch LED colors. I used this Amazon Basic product and save money thanks to Alexa. The process is simple but perhaps not too straight forward, here it is if you are interested. This switch required both phase and neutral. I tried with the type not requiring phase and did not work due to the transformer load. So I ran a phase 14AWG wire to my switch. This switch controls the transformer 110V power in. Once you have phase and neutral + ground installed, the load lead goes back to the power supply to control the lights. If you try now, ON and OFF will work ok. Now with the Alexa app I created a routine using the smarthome - switch - toggle on or off. This routine will power on or off the lights independently from the current switch state. if It is on it will turn it of and viceversa. Next step i create a routine for each color cahnge. For example Party Mode needs 2 on and off toggle. The switch has virtually no latency so i needed to add a delay between toggles so that the transformer will interrupt current at each toggle. I tried Alexa 5 seconds delay and it was too long, so I used Alexa say: one Mississippi. In doing so i created a 1 second delay. If you do not want to hear Alexa counting, you can use set device volume to 0 at the start of your routine. At the end of the routine you can put a set device volume to 5. The routine itself is simple: Trigger with Alexa listen to: "Alexa, Pool lights party mode" then set device volume to 0, toggle switch on, Alexa says one Mississippi, toggle switch off, Alexa says one Mississippi, toggle switch on, set device volume to 5. Done! Party mode is on. I then copied this routines one time and added one toggle sequence for the next color sceme. Then copied and added one toggle....I did this 11 times and now I have all color functions available. I saved $400, all works remotely, the routine were fun to write, it activate with voice, phone app and echo show....super fun.

Read the right reviews!!!??? High failure rate! Software is buggy! Written by a commitee!
3/15/2024 update. Have 7 one way genuine Amazon Basics Alexa/Echo switches in the house. Have replaced 3, going to replace the fourth. The 66+% failure rate dramatically increases the real cost of ownership. This with the buggy Echo Alexa software turning lights on at random makes it a pain. Definitely a software problem, not hardware as it happens across multiple brands of swiitches. The only common denominator is the app/software. *********************************** The reviews here are mixed.....literally! As with all Amazon reviews where the seller is selling completely different items under the same listing, the reviews for different items are homogenized together. This creates wrong or misleading reviews. To add to the confusion single pole and 3 way switches are completely different animals. These should be sold separately to avoid the mess that the reviews are on these two completely different items. And yes you can have more than a 3 way installation. That said, I purchased, and am only reviewing the single pole version of this switch. That is, there is only a single switch that controls a single outlet, light, or group of lights. If there are any other switches that control or affect that single outlet, light, or group of lights YOU BOUGHT THE WRONG SWITCH! If you don't know what a Nuetral wire is, ask someone to help you before you purchase. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200!! If you purchase 3 or less of these switches Amazon will add them automatically to your Echo/Alexa account and save you a lot of time and effort (highly recommended)! For some reason If you purchase 4 or more, you are on your own. I would recommend that if you are buying 4 or more, break it into multiple orders and save yourself some time and hassle and let Amazon do the programming work. Connecting is easy. HOWEVER YOU CAN BE KILLED! White to White, Green to Green (or bare copper). Black to the wire with electricity on it (the "hot" wire, LINE side), and Red to the LOAD (single outlet, single light, or group of lights). Use the enclosed labels so if someone needs to rewire in the future they will know what is what. Works as advertised, NO DRAMA! DRAMA IS AVAILABLE if you buy the wrong switch for your application. Please figure out if you have the wrong switch before leaving a review. Most of the "bad" reviews appear to be due to purchasing the wrong switch, which is partially the sellers fault for combining listing. This is a review, not a tutorial. I neither received nor asked for incentives of any kind for this review. Update: For full honesty, I had to exchange 1 unit out of 7 purchased. The wireless connection between the switch and my Echo units became unreliable. I believe a nearby Nest thermostat or SimpliSafe touchpad may have been interfering, but another switch 36 inches away did not have a problem. Replacing the switch did correct the problem. As more IOT devices are installed this may become a bigger problem. *************************************** I neither received nor solicited recompense in any form for this review. I am a retired computer/network/telephone repair technician with more than 35 years experience. I have taught all these subjects at my employers in-house trade schools in addition to my field experience. Currently I repair/restore guitars and guitar amplifiers to support my guitar collecting habit. As such I perform electronics repair as well as some woodworking involved in repairing guitars an amplifier cabinets. I attempt to repair most items if they fail out of warranty, so my reviews may contain information you will not not find in other reviews. Solicitations to change or "enhance" reviews are always reported to Amazon without exception. Free items or money are joyfully accepted, THEN IMMEDIATELY REPORTED TO AMAZON!! THANK YOU!!!! The observations are my own without any outside influence or input. Your experience may differ from my own! Do your own research and comparisons prior to purchasing, don't rely solely on my observations. I recommend purchasing only from Prime sellers as much of my experience with "marketplace" sellers has been negative. Often drop shipping from China to the USA, and reshipping so it has a USA postmark. That said, do your own research prior to purchasing any products from the Internet!?

Great product
Works as described. We use it for the pool light and the switch is 100’ feet away. Now we just talk to Alexa and BAM!
