Is the statement that you can pause really misleading for the wired remote? true for mfd or wireless app remote but not the wired remote included.

The included wire remote does not have a pause button. Stupid! According to the manual, the center button referred to by the other answer here, is to power on/off and hold for bluetooth pairing. Ridiculous that the wireless remote has all the features of the wired, plus pause and source/zone selection.

The box is connected to nmea 2000 and power, but where are the speakers themselves connected?

The unit has an wiring harness for left and right speakers in two zones (4 speakers). Unit has 26qatts per speaker @ 4 ohm. There is also a wiring harness to connect direct to amplifiers for sub and the two zones.

I added Sirius XM through the Garmin weather reciever.
