Very satisfied
Seems to work better than the lightning detector built into the Tempest weather station.

Cheaper Option than Ambient Weather Housing
Bought this for my ambient weather lightning sensor. Much cheaper than buying one from Ambient Weather and its the exact same one! Good deal!

Test immediately! Be prepared to return...
At best, this product is either a poor design or has production quality issues. I have been unable to find any adjustment in or outside my house (about 100') so far where it gives no false strikes. I have been careful outside to avoid aerial and buried conductors including all kinds of utilities, etc. I have the same/similar issues others have reported. Should have read reviews before purchase! Usually I do! Also the manual and device markings are in conflict and inadequate.

It worked for me
I like this series of sensors. I was able to detect lightning.

Needs Tweaking
Good price but false positive hits. Still trying to fine tune it.

Adds Lightning Detection to present systems
Fast easy way to add lightning detection to your Ecowitt weather station. Also the GW2000 "hub" will interface with the Ambient weather stations adding to the value of both. As for accuracy I get several lightning alerts per week that are not actually lightning so subtracted a star for that. Yes you can adjust the sensitivity but if you reduce it so there are no false alarms, it degrades the distance it will detect lightning. Overall a great addition to a weather station.

It may be a defective unit
Looks -- greatMounting -- easyEase of connecting to weather station display - very easy, connected without having to search for it.Performance - This is where the problem lies. No matter where I placed it or what switch settings I tried, this unit kept reporting lightning, mostly at a distance of 8 miles, when there is none. It could be a sunny day, and it would report lightning.Value for money? If I can't trust it to be accurate, then it has no value. I ended up returning the unit.

Documentation Questionable Performance Poor
The DIP switches are shown in document reversed and upside down. Configuration is a guessing game. There are some important limitations and details not shown in the product description. The device works by detecting the electromagnetic pulse of a lightning strike from clouds to earth. I had many false positives. I set sensor out of line of sight on my other weather station, relocated some indoor temperature sensors for other weather station, to stop many false positives. The documentation does show that this device will not perform as desired due to various other sources of interference. I waited until there were two different thunderstorm in my area before doing this review. I could not detect any lightning strikes at all. There were several lightning strikes within only a few miles during the recent storms.
