Does this generate false alarms?

Very, very rarely. Maybe once every 3-4 months - and I have 7 of them throughout my house.

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor? does require a hub? i have an echo (with zigbee)

Motion Sensor is a Zigbee device, so it does require a hub to utilize its features. It does transmit motion data to Echo Zigbee hub and can be used for automations such as triggering Zigbee lights. However, the temperature sensor does not currently display in the Amazon smart home app, but you can still get the sensor's temperature reading by asking Alexa and you can also use it in routines. However, using Aeotec Smart Home Hub provides the most robust features of the sensors, including sensitivity adjustments.

Can this be used to turn on a smart switch light?

Yes, as long as this Aeotec SmartThings Motion Sensor is connected to the same hub as the Smart Switch, you can utilize a custom automation to create a trigger with the motion sensor to turn a light on or off automatically.
