The ticking noise I had went away and so far 10,000 miles and is still working great.

Did exactly what it was suppose to do.
My 2005 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0l SOHC V6 170K Miles started making the dreaded timing chain "rattling" noise for a couple of seconds at startup when cold. After doing some research and watching a few videos, I decided to get these and give it a try. I primed, installed and torqued these as described in the videos. On first startup I thought I was going to have to call Scotty in the engine room and have the core ejected :) . After a few seconds, the noise stopped and has not returned since. Subsequent cold startups have absolutely no noise what so ever. I consider this preventive maintenance and not a fix for a damaged timing chain assembly. I have included a picture of the box indicating these are made in Italy and are not some Chinese knock off.

It works. Made in Italy. And it primes.
As many of you may know, priming the tensioner is critical before installing it. Cheaper knockoff ones won't prime. This one does. Its a 27mm socket, 1 1/16 works as well. Do not use a 12 point socket. Also, make sure the engine is at TDC before removing. The sudden slack in chain can cause the cam to settle, then you have a whole other problem. But yeah, this thing works.

Do not buy Chinese crap
I bought this because in the reviews it said made in Italy on someone's box well on my box it says made in China and it's complete crap do not buy way too expensive you could get one for $11 if you want Chinese

Correct, Ford Recommended part
This is the correct part for the SOHC timing chain issues, Cloyes is the company that made the repair kits for ford when they originally issued the recall. It's worth the extra money for a part that I know will work. Note this is the tensioner that goes into the rear of the engine on the passenger side.
