I Highly Recommend This Shoe For Broken or Sprain Toes
I broke my toe, 4th digit and sprain three other toes and managed to badly hurt my foot as well. I was referred to an Orthpaedic Surgeon. He instructed me on how to tape my broken toe to it's adjoining digits and gave me an orthopedic shoe. The sole of the shoe was a low wedge. The sole of the shoe he issued me was slippery, it's material, although hard, did not allow me to put any pressure on the toe at all. My toes hurt like heck even though the shoe was supposedly designed to alleviate pressure on the foot and toes. I could not walk in the shoe. I could not walk bare foot. I could only walk using crutches. The shoe he gave me is your standard cheaper orthopedic shoe. I had to use my crutches and hop on the uninjured foot because the shoe did not aid in taking any pressure off of my toes. Additionally, I was afraid to walk on wooden or slick floors because I would slide while wearing the shoe given to me by my Orthopaedic Surgeon. I even reinjured my toe trying to hobble up two stairs wearing the issued shoes. The stairs where wooden and the shoe's sole was made of some type of rubber that did not have much traction. I performed research to determine if I could get a better shoe on my own. I came across these shoes while searching on Google. I searched the manufacture of the shoe Darco on Amazon and found it was selling for cheaper or comparable to what I found on the manufacturer's site. I decided to order it from Amazon. I must admit that I was not in love with how the shoe looked on the manufactures site. The shoe looked just as bulky and unatrractive when I got them. I tried them on and stood up to test them and after being immobilized for nearly three weeks using crutches, I was able to walk using the shoe without crutches. The shoe is a must have if you have broken a bone in your toe or even sprain your toes. You need the extra weight of the shoe to keep your foot balanced and straight. The design allows you to put the pressure on your heels up to the arch of your foot, which allows for very little pressure on your toes. The shoe is freaking awesome! It allowed me to walk gently and slowly without having to use crutches immediately upon putting them on. I swear by these shoes for anyone with a broken or sprain toes. The look is growing on me too!

Just what my doctor wanted me to purchase for an off-loading shoe.
This shoe was great. It fit perfectly. I wear a 9 and 1/2 double wide shoe and although a small. Was recommended I ended up going with the medium. The small had my toes right at the edge and I want a little bit of extra room. The only reason I am not giving this a five-star review is that after wearing the shoe for 6 weeks The back of the shoe started to mash down making it difficult to walk in the shoe. I finally reinforced the back with duct tape. It works great now but it's kind of ugly. Maybe I can find some black duct tape

Perfect Less Expensive Alternative to Pre Op Boot - Maybe Better!
I purchased for post bunion and hammertoe surgery. I wear a women's US 10 and bought this item in its Medium size, it fits well, however, in retrospect, I recommend buying a size larger (i.e. measure a small, get a medium, etc.) because the extra length in front acts as a buffer and prevents you from stubbing your healing forefoot against anything. Construction in very sturdy. I live in NYC and easily can maneuver in the subway and on sidewalks with this shoe. It's winter now and it keeps my foot a good and safe distance from the frozen ground, just layer with a whole bunch of socks for the cold. Post op boots for my specific wound in the forefoot price at $45 and up with the better ones being at $100+. For $28 here on Amazon with prime shipping, you can't find better price and value elsewhere.

I almost return this, I’m glad I didn’t.
When I received this I thought, there is no way I’m going to be able to walk in this. I broke my second to smallest toe about a month before ordering this. I had walking/standing on my foot for about 2 weeks before I got X-rays when the swelling and pain got to be too much. They gave me a basic post op shoe at urgent care that helped but I was still painful. I decided I probably couldn’t walk in this shoe and I was about to return it when I found THIS IS NOT RETURNABLE. So I gave it a shot. It is very easy to walk in even up and down stairs. It’s very awkward looking but it completely takes the pressure off of my toes. I’m so glad I tried it. Keeping off my toe has allowed the swelling to go down and my pain has decreased.

Shoe works as described but didn't last long.
I am buying my third Ortho wedge shoe right now. The shoe works as described and was a great help in healing my foot ulcer, non diabetic, due to improper healing of malunioin of broken bone, proximal phalanx. The velcro closures wear out after 4-6- months and no long provide good closure. I am willing to buy again because price is not that high. So happy with shoe, not happy that velcro closure wears out rather quickly.

It works!!
Fantastic product. Just what I needed to keep pressure off a painful area. Super fast shipping and secure packaging. Definitely recommend. My foot is a women’s size 9 and I bought a medium shoe. My big toe ends 3/8-1/2 inch from the edge of the shoe.

universal fit-fits NO ONE! Poor quality-NOT returnable. Avoid
Total junk! Universal fit means it doesn't fit well at all! Does NOT fit a bandaged foot post op...then is so vastly too wide that it is horrendously dangerous no matter what in a sock or light bandage. Extremely wide & foot has zero support-NONE! Itz onenof the worse ortho products I have seen other than the velcro! Oh, and even though it doesn't say, it-it is NOT RETURNABLE! DO NOT PURCHASE! Take whatever ur doctor gives you as sizes are whacky & huge. Woman-unless you have fat feet, you will not be able to use...mine are normal to narrow size 8.5-9. Rip off!

Keeps my weight off toes whilst I recover from foot surgery.
Had operation on right foot which meant I could not weight bear on that foot for 4 weeks. Unfortunately the hospital did not have the by shoes available. Having had this surgery before I knew what I needed so ordered online. Arrived quickly and a good price. And it does the job, allowing some independence and mobility.

Okay
Ankle band area is not as good as hospital provided. It does the job in the house. I wouldn’t use this for outside as ankle belt is not safe enough that’s I feel.
