This thing is really awesome - reminds me of Back to the Future Hover Board!
Bought this week and was concerned b/c of the few bad reviews - but it really works, really well. I just googled videos of how to use it, and it only took me like 2 tries to get it going. Now I get it going right away fairly easily. If people read the directions, and make sure every time they mess up or take too long, to remove the floating thing for 30 seconds to let it "cool down" - it works like a dream. Had it running for 12+ hours at work yesterday (accountant) and it runs flawless.I constantly checked to see if it was "heating up" based on other reviews, but it was always cool to the touch and never seemed warm at all. For a kid at heart guy, this is just so awesome. I wouldn't recommend for children / probably anyone younger than 13ish - unless they care about reading instructions / let it cool down if they don't get it floating right away, which can apparently break it.As for lasting a long time - I will update my review if it doesn't last - but fingers crossed.

Very strong magnetic force
The magnet is so strong that if you don't get it perfectly centered it snaps down like a mouse trap and dents the beauty of the stainless steel top. Otherwise, it's a great unit.

Pass
Allot harder to levitat then expected needs instucktions. The mag should have a soft rubber base ended up beating the base up really bad trying it. Now its worthless as a display

I love and hate it.
I have been wanting to have something fun like this on my desk for a long time. but you can't really put a whole lot of things on it. i thought i could put a full soda can on it. but uh. it doesn't. imagine trying to balance a soda can on a golf ball. it really can not hold all that much weight. if you watch youtube they really talk it up. let me give the appropriate pro's and con's.Pro's1. Looks pretty cool, not many people have something like this.2. it will hold the platform well.3. looks professional if you sit it on your desk.con's1. platform is very difficult to get used too and sometimes doesn't always work. (tip: lift so all lights come on and try again need to reset the sensors sometimes)2. will not hold anything heavier than a rubrics cube.3. if not balanced correctly. the platform will rotate and tip over then slap onto the platform. (do not let anyone touch it in your office)the only reason i gave it 3 stars is because of how difficult it was and i felt a little cheated that it wouldn't hold the heavier objects that were mentioned it could. it is still cool, and i love it. i just do not want my bias to change the facts.

Great while it lasted....for two months.
We really enjoyed this product until it stopped working two months into owning it. We really didn't use it much and we were hyper-vigilant about not letting it overheat and almost exactly two months after Christmas it stopped working. LEDs work, but the magnetic field produced by the base is no longer consistent enough to make the disc hover. Sadly it was 15 days after the return period, so doubly disappointing.

The media could not be loaded. I've had this running 24-7 at work since Aug. 18, 2014. Customers knock the puck off and it smashes into the base ALL THE TIME. It started to act funny the past week and would wobble violently and then the puck would crash down. Yesterday it finally wouldn't even stay up anymore so I pulled the cover off. All it was was a loose screw on 1 of the 4 stabilizing electromagnetic coils in the center of the large magnet. I decided it looked much cooler with the cover off so put a thick plexi-glass piece on instead. They must have improved the design at some point because I noticed what appears to be a heat sensor attached to the bottom of the circuit board which I assume is thermal protection to keep it from over heating. I made a quick video with my phone of the results (the noise in the background is ultrasonic cleaning of a french horn). Everyone is impressed! I have had this for several months and it works great! People are amazed to see it and wonder how it works. I do warn you: if you aren't careful at setting the floating magnet up correctly, it will immediately smash into the base. I have several marks on the base from doing so...but that's ok. My only real issue is that the four led lights in the four corners are oddly bright (blinding!). I covered them with some colorful paper and it worked well. If you like this type of geeky thing, get one!

I bit tricky to use in the begining on magnet placement. But you get the hang of it. It did shut down once after a couple hours of use due to over heating. after it cooled it was up and running again.
