Love these shoes
Love these shoes! Everyday I put them on to hike (I live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado), I am happy. They have the right amount of support, ventilation, and grip that I need in the woods. They are perfect for summer hiking (except in rain and snow since they aren't waterproof) and are lightweight in a way that allows freedom of movement. Their knobby bottoms keep me from slipping on the steep parts, but don't cause discomfort on the road. I have fairly wide feet and high arches, so keep that in mind before you order since this shoes seem made for my feet (I don't even have to break them in). I have bought the GEL-Kahana style for the last 3 years (#6 and #7) and I will continue to do so until they stop making them or their quality changes.

Awesome for Machu Picchu multiple terrain trails
I bought this pair on a wimp prior to a hike over a year ago. Honestly I have a shoes for each purpose so I only used these when going hiking of in the mountains somewhere. Last month In preparations for my Machu Picchu 5 days hike i decided instead of buying a real hiking shoes I'd use these instead. And it turned out the BEST decision I made!!! 30 miles over various Andes mountain terrain conditions: uphill, downhill, muddy, slimy rocks. Over 5 days 8 hours a day, in the end I have zero toes hurt, zero blister! My companions who wore expensive hiking shoes ended up having all kinds of foot problems that became very painful for them at the end of the trek. That's how great these shoes are!!

Feel different than my other Asics
I usually wear GEL Asics running shoes. However, I've never owned trail running shoes. While I rated them as "fit as expected", this takes into consideration that I always buy my running shoes one size larger than other types of shoes. In other words, I wear 7 and a half usually but buy running shoes in 8 and a half. I said "no" to the good arch support because these sneakers are built up in an unusual place. I feel a raised area on the outer part of my foot not in the arch. I have only run in them twice (about 3 miles) so I can't say how they'll be in the long run or on a long run.

Happy feet make for happy trails!
Here's the thing: ASICS always fit my wider feet perfectly and are super comfortable. I spend a lot of time hiking on trails and going on runs through my neighborhood daily (that is, my trail running shoes get a lot of mileage). Here's the most important thing: a new pair of running shoes makes all the difference - more support and shock absorption means I run faster and with more energy; the shoes do make the difference! My last pair of ASICS Gel-Kahana shoes were over two years old and had over 2,000 miles of use on them and were still very supportive and holding up despite normal wear. However, I had no idea how much of a difference a new pair of ASICS would make! Happy feet make for happy trails! Enjoy!

I liked them so much that I purchased two pairs
Let me state up front that I'm no fan of tennis shoes - in general only wearing them only when necessary. These shoes have changed all of that. I liked them so much that I purchased two pairs. And I've gone from only wearing tennis shoes only when exercising, to wearing them all day long. They are just that comfortable! I have a narrow foot and normally wear either an 8 1/2 or 9 in "regular" shoes. I bought a 9 1/2 and they fit perfectly. I can't compare these to other ASICS styles, as this is the first pair I've owned. But because these are not too snug, not too loose, and they have the perfect amount of arch support, I'm now a convert!

Asics DuoMax provide great support for flat feet
Asics DuoMax provide great support for flat feet!I have worn this brand for several years. Sizing stays true to expectation. Length, width etc.The sole is cushioned well, laces are thick & supportive but stayed tied all day.The Gel Kanana Trail shoe provides better arch support than some of the other Duomax shoes. It is because the overall construction has some support bands stitched onto the mesh as you can see on top of the shoe. Other Duomax that are just mesh going out from the laces to the toe are not quite as supportive for a day on your feet.Painful severe over pronation, has been a life long struggle, and buying these shoes will give you some relief & support.

Great cushy and responsive shoes!
I was hesitant to buy these because of the negative reviews, however, I have been pleasantly surprised! I find these shoes to be very cushy and they definitely are responsive! I have worn these out on the street and on the trails and have been comfortable. The sole is a bit stiffer than regular running shoes, which is a reason I bought them and classic Of trail shoes. I did not own the kahana 6, so I have to comparison. All in all, I am very happy with this purchase!

The best shoe ever!!!
This is my 2nd pair and I wish I could have ordered 10 more pair. I wear custom orthotics due to over pronation and this is a great neutral shoe and believe me, I've tried many. Not only is it great for my feet, they look so good with the primary charcoal gray ,with accents of aqua and orange hides all the dirt you might pick up. I just cleaned my first pair yesterday in the sink and they look like brand new! I've worn them 85% of the time and I bought them last October 2015. Can't recommend more for many reasons.
