Q: Does the zipper go around the whole mattress or is it just on one end?

The zipper is along the short side and extends 30" up each of the long sides.

Q: Can I wash this in a washing machine?

I did. However, I was told that once you put them on not to take it off. The reason I got them was because I had a bed bug issue. After I did remediation I asked the Pest guy about these. He said that they work really well but not to take them off. When I did wash it...take note that the water may "pool" in the corners. I didn't think about this and made one heck of a mess on the floor. So be careful when you take it out of the washing machine. I also put it in the dryer and it was fine.

Q: How many mils thick is the polyethylene layer? Interested to know the density...

The pillow cases are a little stiff but they do not effect your feeling on the pillow case when you lie down because you have covered it with your own cotton pillow case. You can get them at Wal-Mart, Khol's etc. and Ross, TJMaxx, etc. These seem to be a little slicker, so if you wrestle with your pillow, the case tends to slip off of your pillow. It may or may not be a big deal for you.

Q: where can i find low voc polyethelene cover?

IDK, I tried to return mine because it said it would fit a long twin bed it did not. I'm guessing they wouldn't let me return because of safety issues? I'm guessing some people might sleep on it and return it?
