Q: Will it work with Genie brands?

It was not compatible with my Genie opener. I'm not sure how old my model is, probably >20 years old.

Q: How do you know if they are bad? Both lights are on, but one flickers a little. The wires appear to be good. Thanks

I've noticed that if mine flicker the sensors may have dust on them and need wiped off.

Q: after instalation ,the lights on both sensors were on but they would not sense the objects . any advise ?

You can try to reverse the polarity on the sensor. That’s what I had to do with mine.
