works well
this trap has some serious spring power, caught 3 big rats in my house in a day and a half, theres a bridge behind my house thats being repaired and i guess with all the noise and digging the rats are goin to the houses close to the bridge but this thing has killed 2 instantly and caught 1 by the arm, i also tied twine to the trap so they don't run off, helped with the last rat, he tried to get under the couch

Great product. Simple but effective
As long as you have a place to put this where it won't harm your pet's, what a great product. I smeared the peanut butter so it couldn't grab it and run. In 1 day caught the rat I was looking for.

They work. Only one problem.
I've had this trap for 5days and I've caught 4 rats. It works great. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because 2 of the rats were still alive and my husband had to dispatch them. Not the funnest experience.

Aš šŖ¤ that works!
I have tried so many different traps, this is a good trap. If you are just starting this journey please do not use rat poison. What that does is dehydrate the rat and takes a long time to work and while they are dying they will travel in search of water into other peopleās yards that has pets. You will put others animals at risk in your neighborhood. The old fashion wood traps are hard to set and pain in the butt to remove the rat. The tunnel traps are ok, I think they are better for smaller rodents or toads. Yes the toads think itās a little home and will crawl in them. If you have dogs you know bufa toads can kill your pup. I am located in South Florida where I get both rats and toads so I use the combination of the tunnel traps and this trap I am now reviewing. I get more rats with this trap. The jaws are very powerful and itās easy to safely discard the rat without having to touch it. Cleaning the trap is a breeze and I love the bait station is removable to refill.Tips: place traps mouth against where they will run, like against a fence or wall. Check bait often and change after a day or 2x. If you donāt catch one in a few days, move the trap to another location. Keep traps away from access from bigger animals like your dog or neighborhood cat. If you have cameras, put the camera on them so you can monitor.Pros: This trap is not easily triggered so your random lizard will not set it offCons: not good for mice, they are too small to trigger the his trap. This is a Rat trap

Great AFTER you modify it
First of all, this trap is very reliable in that it can be used over and over and over again. Much better than the wooden snap trap, but only after you modify it! There are three issues with these traps. 1) The trigger point is too close to the opening, meaning every now and then you have a LIVE rat with its hand stuck in the trap. 2) It's not heavy enough, so the trap can be dragged around by the rat easily, providing an escape. 3) The spring is not strong enough to for a quick death, giving the rat time to wiggle its way out (which they've done on several occasions.I've made some modifications to address these short-comings. It's still not 100%, but close! The first and easiest thing to do is make sure you place the bait further back on the trap. Believe me, having to kill a rat with its hand stuck on the trap because they triggered it too early is not fun.The next modification was to drill screws in 3 spots on the front of the trap. That way the chances of the rat getting impaled by the screw and dying instantly is higher and if it doesn't die instantly, it can't wiggle its way out. The important thing is to use small screws and don't go down too far otherwise you'll have to unscrew the rat from the trap lol and that's gross. I go down until I see the screws aligned with the jaws and that makes it easy for the rat to drop out of the trap by just holding it up using gravity. The final and probably most important modification: I built a wooden box around the trap and left a small opening in front that goes into the trap. This is great for several reasons. One is that other animals or birds can't get caught by it anymore. Two is that it no longer looks like a trap, so the rat is less suspicious. Three is that I can place this outdoors and rain won't get in and so I don't have re-bait it. Four is that the rat can't move the trap around and try to escape, it's stuck.I've caught many rats this way now with traps that are about a year old!
