Please read this initial review and the updates after it. Just received this light yesterday and installed it this morning. Installation was as fast as could be expected; I was able to use the existing bracket and holes from my old ceiling lamp. Connecting to the app and to Alexa was very straightforward. Note that the wall switch has to be on so the light gets power for Alexa to work to turn it back on. What is very nice is that the light remembers previous settings, so once I adjusted the color temperature and then used Alexa or the app to dim it, turning it off and on with the lights switch on the wall maintains the last settings. The colors are fun though a bit over-the-top for typical daily use, but what is nice is that you can adjust the color intensity, so I was able to find a nice Amber color to use for nightlight settings. --- Updating my review after a few weeks. I still like the light a lot, but two things about it make me less thrilled with it than before: 1. It is quite bright even at lowest setting. I have been able to use the light at the top (the color light) at low saturation as a night light, but I wish the main light could be dimmed more. 2. The scheduling feature in the app only lets you set times to turn the light off and on. Turning it on will turn it on to the last setting on the light. I WISH THERE WERE A WAY TO SCHEDULE A TIME AND A SETTING. For example, at 6 turn it on to 50%, at 11 set it to 25%, at 2 set it to red.

Installing this light fixture was both easy and hard. The easy part was installing the small ring that you attach to your junction box. The hard part was connecting the wires while balancing the light on my shoulder and standing on a stepstool. It's very easy to mount the light onto the small ring once you've got the wires connected. Just know that the middle part might be tricky without a second pair of hands. At first, I couldn't get the light to connect to the Smart Life app, which was quite frustrating. When I finally did manage it, I found that the app is reasonable, but I wouldn't want to go into it regularly to turn the light on and off. That's where Google Assistant is supposed to come in. Unfortunately, Google Assistant doesn't work as well as it should. When I initially connected it, I was able to say, "hey Google, activate SCENE" to activate one of the customizable scenes. But that quickly stopped working, and I don't know why. Google refuses to respond to it now, which severely limits the voice control. You can set it to a specific colour, but I want to have one of the scenes continuously roll through colours when the light is off. I can do that, I just can't turn it on/off with Google Assistant. The workaround is to use IFTTT, but that's also a challenge. The Smart Life app/service appears to connect to IFTTT, but it won't find your device or your scenes. The workaround here is to use a version of the app published by Brilliant, because their service does work with IFTTT. And even then, you're limited to three IFTTT recipes unless you upgrade to a paid account. And I don't care enough to do that. An important thing to note is that the light retains its settings if you turn it off with a light switch. So if you want to use it in combination with a regular switch (or a smart light switch), you can do that. I like the low profile of the light on the ceiling, and it's minimalist design. The output of the white light is solid, and I really like having the RGB lights cycle in the evenings. I'm tempted to flash it with Tasmota firmware to improve its integration with my home automation, but I'll give some more thought before going down that road.

Great product! Important! Light has to be flush with the ceiling around the mount otherwise will not secure to mount. Make sure connection point is not recessed otherwise, you'll be spinning the light repeatedly and not sure why. I have three of these now and they look great! Pros. Beautiful control system, lovely ring of light around the room under led color setting. Flush mount looks great. Very bright Cons Main down light is primarily focused downward, leaving top two feet of room looking dark. The video showcases the beautiful color, the glow of the blue light which has some uv properties, and the downlight in warm yellow (around 1200k)
