Bostitch Office Wall Mount Manual Pencil Sharpener, 8 Hole Dial, 6X Longer Cutter Life, Vertical or Horizontal Mounting, Black

I bought this Bostitch black colored version and an X-ACTO KS manual pencil sharpener at the same time and The Bostitch currently priced at $11.86 is a better value than the than the X-ACTO priced at $18.04 or the Chrome Bostitch model priced at $23.99. The Bostitch just seems to have a better overall build quality, the crank is not just a stamped metal handle bolted to an axle like on the X=ACTO but is a cast formed piece with a larger round base that fits into a 'socket' on the case and rotates smoothly and the sharpener has the added feature of tool-less replaceable cutters which are priced at $9.99 which is better than having to remove the mounting screws from the wall and replacing the entire unit....although I can say I've had a manual sharpener for household and shop that I've used for 60 years that has never had to have it's cutter replaced. ...I rated this at 5 stars even though I thought the mounting screws had a bit of a soft head and you should drill pilot holes if mounted on wood or and to be careful making sure your screwdriver is aligned and sufficient pressure is applied or risk cam-ing out and ruining the screw head and also the rotating pencil selector dial is a bit stiff and hard to turn but you can remove the case and push the spring loaded dial spindle to make it easier to turn the selector. The crank knob on this unit is larger and easier to grasp and more robust and durable than on other brands which have been reported to break off....This pencil sharpener at it's low price point is an item that would be more than adequate for the classroom and if used in the household will last for years....A very good value.

Used for a couple of years of homeschooling now and works great! Very solid and well built!

4 1/2 STARS, but only because it is made of super lightweight metal. Was hoping for something closer to the old heavy duty classroom models, but silly of me to think that at this price point. That said, this sharpens both round and hex pencils to perfection, so what more can I ask?!

Great replacement for electric sharpeners. Low maintenance because you never have to worry about batteries dying or needing a charge. I wish there was a way you could clamp it to a desk without having to drill holes in your desk. But small price for the time I spent recharging batteries or replacing them. It's perfect in its simplicity but installing it is nerve wrecking as you're committing to holes to install. I've just reasoned that if I ever need to remove it, I can always fill in the holes and no one would know.

High quality, operates smoothly, durable, just like the ones in school when they had them. Would highly recommend.

Regarding "Bostitch Metal Manual Pencil Sharpener, Silver (MPS1-CH)" This is simply the perfect Pencil Sharpener. It works great. To think we suffered with our old one for 28 years (it came with the house) Do yourself a favor and get a good Pencil Sharpener, get THIS Pencil Sharpener!

Love! This sharpener is the only way to go in my opinion. The hand held ones break too easily and the electric ones quit working after a short time. This sharpener has held up to rigorous use from my 4, very creative, artistic children and it's still going strong. They love it. It's bolted to their craft table so it also can't get lost which is another negative about the small handheld ones. For the price, this sharpener is a no brainer.

Good value product. A back to basics product. Everything I expected from description. Multiple pencil size feature is good.

Excellent amazing product however the only drawback is it didnt come with the mounting screw and bracket
