I have one of those mini LED light strings that gets power from a box that contains 3 AA batteries. I got tired of replacing the batteries every 1.5 - 2 weeks so I got this item. I solder the wire into the battery box right where the batteries terminals are. Plug the USB plug into a USB power source and light work just great. No more batteries to replace. I still have the option to use the batteries and not plug them into a USB source.

I can't begin to express how many of these USB, switch controlled pigtails I've used over the past few years, especially near the holidays. These are absolutely perfect for wiring into LED holiday decor pieces which you no longer wish to operate via batteries that require constant changing. With this pigtail, you simply remove the batteries and wire this into place. Then, plug into a USB higher amperage charger, plug into 120 volt receptacle and you're all set. I actually plug the charger into a wall timer and everynight, the holiday decor pieces light up, with zero maintenance and no worries. I've also used these for extending chargers and countless design projects. I would absolutely recommend these pigtails, just know what you're doing before undertaking any task involving electricity. But, if you're looking at these, I'm guessing you've got a background in electrical design or fabrication. Great product, super dependable, absolutely worth every penny.

I have been using these for my manufacturing for a while now and have sold around 100 products that use them as a power cable, we have not received a single bad unit, nor has there been any customer complaints derived from these cables on our products. The cord quality is great, does not feel cheap and has been very durable, the on/off switch is a nice touch as well. My favorite feature is the length of 5 feet, they are the only USB power cords that we have found in this length with open soldered ends, so they have plenty of length to actually be useful. Do not hesitate to buy these.

Overall good wires. The switch is a little cheap but still works well. Good length at 6 feet. I like to buy these and use them to power up battery powered items like Christmas decorations. Just takes a little polarity knowledge (r+/b-) and some basic soldering skills. The price is fair I guess. Not bad, but not the greatest either. I mostly chose it for the switch and length. Definitely not glued to this particular cord or anything.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Cost effective, does the job, easy to wire up.

Works perfect for powering a few 5V LEDs!

"Feel" is a relative thing but the feel of the switch mechanism operation was sharp and positive. I was also pleased with the thickness of the overall jacket of the cord. It is considerably heavier than other USB type cords I have used and made it easy to firmly clamp the jacket into a splice housing I used. I have only one suggestion -- the switch should be further away from the USB plug end of this extension cable maybe another foot. The short length causes you to have to reach far under a table or desk to get to the switch.

Didn't work for me, didn't supply enough voltage. I failed to read the specifications and it wasn't enough to power the led light strip.
