I have two outdoor hanging baskets which I line with coconut liners and boy, the soil drys out fast due to the air circulation. I use one or even two in each hanging pot to help with the water evaporation. I will never be without these liners! I have backup in my shed as we speak!

At first I was disappointed because I watered just a little more than normal and the pads didn't seem to help any. Then I tried really soaking the hanging pots good...like watered good 3-4 times in one day before I left them for several days..in the almost 100 degree heat..and they held up great! So these will work if you really soak the pot (which I guess makes sense..you need to get enough water in the pot to soak the dirt AND let the pads absorb as much as they can). Of course I would only do this in a pot with drain holes..soaking that much without drains would not be good.

I hated it when I watered my hanging baskets, and it seemed like most of the water ran right through the coco liners. So wasteful! I tried these this summer, and though there is some run-out, it is much reduced. And the baskets do not need daily watering like they used to. These mats seem to work best if you do not let them dry out. I will definitely keep using these, they are such a good buy.

I put one of these in my hanging basket, but water still runs through it--perhaps not as much as it would if the mat weren't in there, but still more than I'd like. Time will tell if it keep enough water in the basket to keep my flowers alive.

Must have for hanging baskets in full sun! In the past my hanging baskets of million bells have lasted maybe a month before they get leggy and unsightly. This year I made my own hanging baskets and put this in and my million bells are still going strong more than 5 months later.

Fantastic product...wouldn't even consider putting a plant in a coconut fiber basin for wrought iron hanging baskets without them. Have given some to friends. They love them as well. I donated (to charity plant sale) some of my heucheras growing in one with one of these in the base of the planter. The master gardener that came out to collect the plants was amazed at how profusely the plant had multiplied. I have not been successful with this plant in the yard, but in the hanging basket with this as a base has performed wonderfully. I use the crystals in all my "soil mix". Plants grow so quickly and multiply faster than I can almost handle. It's great not to have to water all my potted plants frequently as I have so many...and all over a 1/2 acre. Watering them once a week until the middle of July to the end of August is sufficient with these or the crystals.

I love this product! I have been using water gel crystals in my perrenial garden and hanging baskets for over 15 years. Highly recommend.

Easy to use, and seem to be very effective in keeping my baskets moist, and not just draining straight through

I have large wire basket type window boxes with the coconut liners .. I use miracle grow soil and fertilize with miracle grow. This past season, my baskets performed better than previous years .. same flowers wave petunias .. I water planters before I go to work and again when I return from work if its a really hot sunny day. Somedays the flowers need that that refresh sooner than when I got home. With the addition of these water holding gel pads I found it bought me an extra 2 or 3 hours before the dreaded heat wilt. My best planter show year thus far since using these great helpers. Highly recommend. Your flowers will thank you and your neighbors will love what you bring to the community.

These are awesome to put in the bottom of planters in the summer. They hold extra water, reducing the occasional wilt that planters are prone to on those hot summer days.

I have to water my hanging baskets much less often. I am astonished. I wouldn't use with veggies.. It's toxic.
