Update: OK, customer service doing the right thing
I bought this battery a bit over 1 year ago (on May 2023). Even after completely charging the battery on an OPTIMA charger, the battery would barely crank over a 20 hp outboard motor. I should have tried to return the battery then, but it still worked (barely), and I needed it for the boat. In Nov 2023 the battery was placed on an OPTIMA charger over the off season. Once again, this spring, the battery is still weak. The battery is not much better than the OPTIMA battery I replaced which I used for 9 years! Very disappointed and I will not be purchasing OPTIMA batteries again.UPDATE:I called customer service and explained the problem, and they will honor the warranty. Following the phone conversation, I got an email that said:We will need a picture of your proof of purchase and a picture of the bar code on the side of the batteryPut your case # in the subject line and email to [email protected] have yet to send in the info, but it seems like I will be able to get a replacement (I'll update here if I do not)So, great Optima customer service! (I knocked off one star as I did receive a faulty battery)Last update: Replacement battery just arrived!! Added back a star

Great battery's
Just bought two new ones to replace the same battery's that were still working fine but were 9 years old in my boat. Only replaced due to age to feel better about running offshore.

Won't charge beyond 06V, 6-7months after bought.
Blue Top Optima batteries used to be best to-go options for people who want to have a little more oomph or use deep-draw accessories, such as winches, etc.Not anymore.I've had 5 of these in several vehicles. This is the second time I buy this same model battery AND have it die. Previous one retaining 12V at 13-14months after bought, would drain in 2 days, tops. This one, the replacement, just stopped charging beyond 06V, out of the blue (likely the cells inside became disconnected?). Several attempts to bring it back, using various chargers (including the Optima one, which is expensive AND useless ) have yielded no positive result. Now, the warranty is being handled by Optima directly, and it's a royal pain in the ass with tap dancing steps and obstacles to providing warranty to the customer. Where it was, once, easy to reach and get warranty, now they are intent on making it a terrible experience for customers. Not the wisest notion. This has been my last Optima Blue Top. I don't know what is going wrong there, but their QAQC is either absent or woefully inadequate. Have started the painful process of getting warranty for this, and not feeling happy about it, whatsoever. Also hoping their Yellow Top series has not followed same sad end.Loom elsewhere for your next such battery.

Old Battery?? Apparently not.
The battery showed up with no date stickers. The only time I've heard of this happening is when someone doesn't want it known just how old the battery is.I emailed Optima about this and never got a response. I probably bought a battery that has been sitting on the shelf for years. Thanks a lot Optima!!**Before I returned it I decided to call Optima and got through to customer service fairly easy. Apparently the Non-Spillable tag has the date code in it. First number (5 on my battery) is the year it was made, 2025. the next 3 numbers is the days it was made (044 on my battery) meaning 44 days into the year or February 13th.It would have been nice to have got this info the easy way but now I am happy I have a fairly new battery.I also learned that the Optima's 3 year factory warranty is honored on purchases through AmazonNow I'm very happy!!

Best batteries
These are great batteries. It is the only thing I use in my boat.

Good battery so far; Only on the water 2 months
Just bought in July 2024 to replace a dead AGM. Battery seems to hold a 12.4v charge when I do not have the battery charger on the boat run. I drained the charge in 2 weeks with just the marine radio idle - not on - which was surprising. But, did let me know the Guest 10 amp charger was toast ( it lasted a surprising 20 years). Running two Humminbird Helix units, starts a Yamaha 150 hp 4-stroke and all boat accessories. Have hit it pretty hard with say 6 hours on the sonar units and so far so good. Will report back, but seems like a good battery and alternative to the newer lithium batteries.
