Floratone

Anything but typical - as all of his work. Adventuresome. Unique. Grooves. Unexpected. Beautiful. Captivating. Stretches the limits - even his. One of those rare discs that I stopped everything I was doing the first time I listened to it. A must have. Same review for Floratone 2. Both discs are in constant rotation. Not to be missed.

Frisell continues to push what could fairly be considered a new genre of music. Open to any influence, created through an iterative, collaborative process, driven by technology, but deeply rooted in an organic, folksie feeling. I won't even try to come up with a name for it.I'm sorry those Frisell fans who express disappointment in this release aren't captured by its seductive charm. Those of us who can't take it out of our various players know what I mean. It is sophisticated, surprising, and satisfying. It stands up to repeated active listening, and moves easily into the ambient background of your room, or your head.For folks who have been fortunate to see Bill perform live in a variety of contexts, this album, as carefully constructed as it is, is somewhat more akin to his live performances than many of his other popular albums. The collaborators have somehow managed to retain the edginess created by the deconstruction of the music while it's right between your ears, if not right before your eyes.My hat's off to them. But not my headphones.

As a big fan of bill frisell i think that this record is one of this best with the recording EAST AND WEST .

These music on these tracks is thick and solid and very democratic. No one tries to grandstand or steal the show. Frisell, as usual, does not play "guitar hero" - though he certainly has the chops to do that, IF he wanted to.My ONLY complaint is - 45 minutes...? The days of 45 minute "albums" was over about 20 years ago. It would be nice to have about 20 more minutes of these sessions - whether they spent more time exploring the themes of these selections OR included a few more tracks on the release. The playing is great, just give us more on the little silver disk.Five stars, definitely!TURN IT UP!

Lost a lot of weight, very good

This recording is much like "Unspeakable" which I think is great, I've listened to it many times.Groove driven soundscapes is a good description of that recording and this one as well.

This new CD is a great mix of jazz, rock, and alternative music. If you like guitar, you'll like this.
