Speick Men Pre Shave Lotion

I'm habitually sceptical about such things, particularly as I am 71 with what I believe is classed as a "grizzled" chin that normally scoffs at all grooming products. My Panasonic razor had ceased to "cut it" (pun intended) and my skin was drying up, so I thought I'd give this a go. This lotion did an excellent job from day 1, leaving me with a nicer and more comfortable shave and a wife no longer mumbling about "kissing sandpaper cheeks". As an added bonus it's made under EU regulations so you know there's no dodgy chemicals in there. I can recommend this most highly and will henceforth be a repeat customer!

A quite pleasant fragranced pre-shave for users of electric shavers. The fragrance is strong, without being overpowering, clean-smelling, rather than complex. The spirit base has an astringent effect, readying the beard for an effective electric shave. The spirit content does appear to secure a closer and more satisfying daily shave. I’m not convinced you’d use this as an aftershave, though. It’s relatively expensive for a fairly conventional balm or lotion, but it seems to do the job

I’ve been doing the majority of my shaving (both face and entire scalp-I’m a baldy) using electric shavers for years now, with the odd wet shave thrown in. There are some exceptional electric shavers around now, so I find myself having a wet shave with less and less frequency. I do often get mild irritation though from my electric shaver. It’s not really bad or terribly uncomfortable, but I do get it. So I thought after all these years that I would try a pre-electric lotion. I did a bit of research and decided to try this lotion. I used it on my face and all over my head, it doesn’t take a lot. When I started shaving, the difference was immediate and night and day obvious. The smoothness and comfort was exceptional. I was really surprised because I wasn’t expecting a product to make such a huge difference. The closeness of the shave with fewer passes of the shaver was very noticeable too. And my skin was left smooth, soft, and comfortable afterwards, not at all dried out, and no irritation whatsoever. The only slight downside, and it is only my opinion, is that I’m not overly taken with the scent. It’s not terrrible, and it’s not strong, it doesn’t last for long after the shave, but I don’t really like it but can live with it. Otherwise, I really recommend this product. It really is a game changer.

Effective pre shaver lotion. Nice smell and makes shave area ready for shaving with electric shaver, may be used with razor. Good value for money and good size. Will strongly recommend.

I have been using this for years and it has been excellent, but I am wondering if they have changed the formula somehow. Then when I ran out the other week Nov 2025, I ordered a new bottle and used it the day it arrived. Two hours later my neck was itching and driving me mad. I got home and when I looked in the mirror there was a human/Turkey hybrid staring back at me! Next time I shaved was the same - and the time after that. I am using the same electric razor, on the same setting and the same aftershave balm I have used for years, so the only thing different is the new bottle of this. I will try something else for my next shave and update this review, but I wanted to post this to see if anyone else had noticed a similar reaction.

I only use an electric shaver as a backup to my morning daily wet shave to get rid of the stubble when going out in the evening. As such I am not an expert when it comes to electric shave products. My go to pre-electric shave brands being Boots and Superdrug which are cheap and effective for my somewhat limited needs. Unfortunately, I ran out just before going on holiday so had to resort to other means and I chose Speick because I needed it quickly and it came out favourably in reviews. Albeit at a price. Whilst I am pleased with the results, I cannot say that it is significantly better than the High Street brands but at twice the price. Don't get me wrong it's a good product and I will definitely order again if I have to but for my limited needs it's not good value for money.

Excellent addition for shaving. Make the stubble stand up. Making it easier for the electric shaver.

A lifelong fan of Boots’ pre-electric shave in the glass bottle, discontinued, I reluctantly switched to Superdrug, which isn’t nearly as good. It’s sticky in comparison and my shave quite inferior. This Speik, while much more expensive, is at least as good as my old favourite and I’m converted. Perhaps even better than Boots and smells nicer too.
