Nikwax Hardshell Cleaning & Waterproofing Duo-Pack

Great product! This duo pack keeps our expensive outerwear clean and fully waterproof. Most importantly, it doesn’t diminish the effectiveness of the technical fabric at all. Simple to use and highly effective.

Used these to freshen up my ski gear, and they worked great. Both products go right in the wash, making it super easy—no spraying or extra steps needed. The cleaner removes dirt and buildup without messing with the fabric, and the waterproofing treatment restored water resistance without leaving any stiffness. Pros: ✔ Super easy—just toss it in the washing machine ✔ Doesn’t leave residue or change the feel of the fabric ✔ Works well on ski jackets, rain gear, and shells Cons: • The bottles aren’t huge, so if you have a lot of gear, you might need more • The waterproofing effect is good, but you may need to repeat it after heavy use If your jacket or shell isn’t repelling water like it used to, this duo-pack is an easy way to bring it back to life!

This will get you 2 washes of about 3 items each and only 1 waterproofing of said three items. So you can actually wash about 6 items but will only be able to waterproof 3. I used this to wash 3 coats. 2 hard shell rain coats (a Marmot and a Northface) and a winter snowboard coat that used to be waterproof. I read through a ton of reviews and looked at all the different versions. I debated getting the other soft shell version and doing the snowboard coat separate but when I got the bottles I realized how small they actually are. Reading the instructions I though you might only need a capful or some lesser quantity but for 1 load you need the whole bottle of waterproofer. Once I figured that out I wasn’t going to wash all three items and then wait and waterproof them separate so I did them all together. The cleaning agent did a great job! The north face is about 10+ years old and was pretty filithy. It came out nearly brand new! Especially around the arm holes. Same with my board coat. The directions were easy to follow and i didn’t dry them at all in between wash and waterproof. However since my Marmot has sealed seams I didn’t want to tumble dry and risk ruining the seals. So I air dried that after waterproofing, and tumbled on low the other two. Once they were all fully dry I did the water test. Both hard shells were back to being waterproof again! Both beaded up instantly with no immediate soaking. I’m sure it will take a real test of being in the actual rain to tell but neither were beading at all prior to this so I’ll take it as a win. The snowboard coat however, did not fair so well. It just straight absorbs any water that touches it. But given that it is not a hard shell jacket and I may have just been setting my hopes too high that this would just “work”, I’m not totally dissapointes. I am tempted to get the spray waterproofer now though and see if that will help. Either that or buy the other version and try again. Either way I wasn’t going to *not* wash it with the others since I had the stuff to use so it was worth a shot. So overall I would say it works great for HARDSHELL rain jackets.

I strongly recommend this product to revive waterproof clothing!!! My waterproof hardshell jackets and pants were purchased 6 years ago for heavy use on long walks (1-2 hours) during the rainy season here in Seattle. Over the years, I have maintained waterproofness by using the Nikwax hardshell cleaning detergent a few times per year, which seemed to be enough to revive decent beading during rainy walks. By the end of the last rainy season, I was still able to walk about 1 hours in light rain and only about 15 minutes in consistent, moderate to heavy rain before I felt any moisture seep in. However, the water beading at the start of the current rainy season was almost non-existent. I did not want to chance walking around and getting soaked as the season progressed and heavier rains arrived. I asked Gemini about alternatives to spending hundreds on new waterproof clothing; a suggestion was the Nikwax Hardshell Cleaning and Waterproofing duo-pack. After reading many reviews, I bought the duo-pack as I had already run out of the cleaning detergent last season. I followed the easy instructions for washing/treating and drying my clothing exactly as described on the bottles. After washing, treating, and drying as described, I did not observe any weird smells or residues on my clothing, although my clothing did feel a little softer, a good thing! The first test of waterproofness was the next day as an Atmospheric River arrived. Before starting my walk, the forecast predicted only occasional light rain for a few hours, but it actually started raining moderately to heavily just a few minutes after I walked out the door, and it rained like that for my entire 1.5 hour walk. Importantly, in terms of the clothing: 1) the rain beaded amazingly on my jacket and pants, maybe even better than when new. 2) I stayed completely dry! 3) I am confident I could have walked for much longer and still stayed dry! The easy to use Nikwax cleaning and treatment has given me the confidence that I will stay dry through unexpected rain, and the major bonus was that I saved hundreds versus buying new clothing!

Works great on my ski jackets that are worn daily during the winter months and tend to get dirty. Very pleased how clean they look, especially since one of the jackets is white.

Two step cleaning and re-waterproofing solution for outdoor waterproof garments is easy to use and provides very good results. Just wash 2 garments with the first solution and if you need even more revival of the DWR finish wash again with the second solution. These returned my favorite ski jacket to original performance from nearly completely not waterproof.

If you spend a lot of money on outdoor gear, spend the money on these detergents and renew your waterproof products for many years to come. Be careful on your dryer settings so you don't fry your garments.

Thise products works well. Water just beads of my goretex pants and raincoats. The shipping was sub-par. Both bottles were leaking in the package and one bottle had a small cut in it from being smashed near the bottom. Neither lost much volume of product, but it doesn't seem like it would be all that difficult to ship a product without damaging it.

Works just as intended…. We used it to clean our ski pants and jackets to keep it clean and water repellent… tried the clothes in our second trip and it was better than the original manufacturer coating Highly recommend

Excelente producto, lo use para una chamarra repelente al agua que lamentablemente se dañó con un lavado con detergente normal que le dejo manchas de jabón, nikiwax redujo las manchas, y aunque no las quito completamente creo que en próximas lavadas con este producto las manchas se van a reducir poco a poco.

Los compré para un traje de moto y siguió calando cuando llovía

Producto excelente para impermeabilizar en condiciones las prendas que se quieran. Primero lavé la ropa con Tech Wash ( 30 grados y ropa sintetica) y despues de centrifugar y sin aclarar vuelves a lavar con el impermeabilizante TX Direct (muy bueno). Con los 300 cc que trae cada bote yo he lavado en tres veces: Dos chaquetones tipo Parka para travesia-montaña tipo decathon (uno con un poco de relleno dentro para treking montaña y el otro sin relleno pero con dos capas interiores tipo senderismo) para ello use 150 cc de cada bote, otra lavadora con una chaqueta impermeabilizada de vestir, una chaqueta de trecking (tela gruesa impermeabilizada) y una chaqueta fina cortavientos de kalenji (100 cc), y finalmente y por ser poco lo lave a mano dos cortavientos ( use los ultinos 50 cc), todo ello quedo perfecto y muy bien impermeabilizado. De todas formas y a pesar de ller bien las caracteristicas del producto en su web nikwas.com no se muy bien el efecto que hace el primer producto de lavado )( tech was) sobre las prendas, eso si, el impermeabilizante TX Direct es muy buen producto, impermebiliza las ropas muy bien.
