The scale is great, and can be used standalone if you don't want any of the app features. I've done many things to test the accuracy, and it passes all tests to within it's 0.1 lb precision--comparing weights to a calibrated industrial scale, checking its work on medical scales, testing small differences by adding a precise known weight to my own, it always comes up accurate. No cheating here (some sketchy lesser digital scales will remember the last weight they see, and spit out the same number if the next weight is close, to make sure it looks the same if you step off and back on as a test).I even used it to weigh a cat I was holding, and came up with the same number as the vet's scale--good work!It's in fact so accurate that you need to set your latitude range on it--it presumably is compensating for the roughly 0.5% difference in apparent weight (to give you a consistent, absolute mass measurement rather than local weight measurement) depending on where you are between the equator and poles. That would only add up to a variability of 0.5-1lb, but it apparently is that accurate.The app is kind of crusty and looks very "early iPhone", but functionally it does everything it's supposed to, and does it well. Surprisingly enough, it has never had any trouble syncing to the scale, and feeds the data right into Apple Health, so even if the app itself is a bit janky all your data is easily usable.Oh, and the battery life is great--I don't weigh all that frequently, but currently at 18 months without having to put new batteries in.

This scale is really cool and has a lot of functions, however it is difficult to set up. I have gotten the app the work now and it is Working well. I like that it shows my body fat % and muscle mass. Also tracks your water levels and visceral fat.

So, I'm 5 foot 8, weigh 206 lbs and haven't worked out in 8 years. But i have 16.2% body fat! Woohoo! Seriously a joke. Not only is that off (double it to be accurate) but because of that, I have to eat 4800 calories a day (per the scale's advice)! Lol. Bone mass/weight whatever is also off. Funny - it calls me "Obese" but with 16.2% body fat. Brilliant logic you have there!Save your money - seems like these are all off a bit on body fat but this one is a joke.. And 400% the cost of other scales. The app is a joke, too. Comes preloaded with someone elses results - about 80 of them. You can delete them - ONE AT A TIME. So, set aside 20 minutes for that.Update.. I took another reading for some laughs and i dropped 3% body fat in about 3 hours (down to 13%), I'm a 206 lb 44 year old with a metabolic age of 15! SWEET! And here i thought i needed to lose 40 lbs... Shortest diet ever! Only 5 hours and I'm dangerously low on body fat! Glad I don't need this scale any more.

I’ve had the scale for four or five years now, bought on Amazon. It’s been great until today. Today I had to replace batteries and now, no matter what I try, pairing fails with my iPhone 11 XS max. This makes the scale completely unusable.UPDATE: The problem was with my iPhone not the scale. After restarting my iPhone, the scale paired easily and continued with its great service.What I especially like about the scale is that when I repeat a measurement, I get exactly the same measurement right down to the 10th of a pound. Other skills fail this test, many very badly.

This (RD-953PRO) was supposed to replace a 10 year old Tanita innerscan BC-554 (IronMan) however is not worth the price. Is indeed a beatiful scale but the interface is another case of remove thw button and make it complicated to use:1. I was not able to find a tanita app that works with this scale in the USA. The best app supposedely is My Tanita but only works in europa apparently.2. This is scale is as accurate weigth measuring wise as the old ironman. They give the exat same weight. The weight is also very reliable between measurements.3. Fat percentage and other measurements seems very reliable. It gives better numbers than the ironman by a little bit.4. It is not very fast in showing the 0.00 to start the measuring. Seems you have to press the ip arrow and center circle to select the profile and start measuring, as opposed to only the profile number in the ironman.5. Button difficilt to pree with toes you need to use fingers as opposed to the ironman.6. The link they give you in the little add ons for the manual does not work.So sadly.... i had to return it.

I bought this scale because I've had the same one in Europe for many years and I'm very happy with it. The problem here is the associated USA App which is absolutely unusable and is worth 1 star so the Tanita also becomes almost useless because it is not possible to keep a history of weight and body values (also, the body values ​​were all wrong). This is rather disappointing given the cost of the scale! My suggestion is to buy a scale from another brand that has a functional App. This is why I asked for a return. And my question is: My question is: why don't you make the same App that is in Europe and which is absolutely fantastic?

There are other products that offer similar functionalities that do not come close to this product. I had an old Tanita scale that lasted me more than 15 years which is still working. This product is durable and will not break. There are other scales in the market where my weight will fluctuate right after I measure. This product offers accurate bodyfat measurement since it is not calculated from my weight. I really love this scale and will be using it for years to come!
