Q: In the video, WHY is the bird on a chain???

This bird IS on a chain. Why would you do that or use a video of a chained parrot? Makes absolutely no sense. This is not how you sell products. Sorry but no buying this just because of that.

Q: Does this mewtogo toy have the very scratchy sisal rope, which feels like steel wool, and gets caught in a bird's throat?

no, I have not had that problem with the rope. Of all, the birds that I care for, none of them have really chewed the rope they go for the blocks and drop the rope on the bottom of the cage. I take care of 40 parrots at a shelter and have 24 parrots at my home. All of the medium to large birds really like this toy. We have had no issues with any of the toys. Carol

No noticeable smell . I have purchased a couple of these which my Grey has demolished immediately.
