Works well, magnet stayed on my stove at least to 1000 degrees.
I have this magnet mounted on my wood stove to help monitor the stove's operating status. I rely on a wood stove to heat my home, so this product is effectively 'in use' at least 8 months of the year in my region. I have checked the accuracy of this thermometer against others, and they all read similar temperatures, so this is accurate enough for general stove purposes. I have used this on the stove, up to about 1100 degrees (F) according to a secondary thermometer. The magnet affixes quite securely, even to a round surface, and it has never fallen off by itself. The colored orange/red section of the gauge can fade to a more pale colour if heated over 700 degrees (F), as mine did; but this is above the correct operational temperature range for a normal wood stove and the discolouration is normal on such thermometers. By now, my unit has seen 3-400 burn cycles without any issue from the thermometer, other than the discolouration-which does not impair function. This thermometer works as described and is great for its intended purpose.

Not sure what the problem is.....
The first house where we had of of these (not this brand), we felt the temp was more accurate. We had a fireplace insert for a raised ranch in New England and that one was spot on. This house we have now (still new New England) has a new fireplace insert (circa 2012) and we don't think this thermometer is as accurate. We've tried it in multiple places on the face of the insert but we are sitting in our undies and the room thermostat is at 90 degrees plus, the outside temp is below zero but the thermometer on the fireplace insert says 400 degrees. Don't know if our insert is that good or if the thermometer is that bad..... We have never gotten to 600 degrees to be able to burn creosote. We are mostly wanting to use this thermostat to help us get up to temp to burn off creasote and better time when to shut the damper. We feel that we are still playing a game and having to adjust mentally 100-200 degrees to what that actual temp should be. I'm glad we have this unit but I don't know if we are better off for it.

Works great!
This item works great on our woodburning stove and I can see it from a distance which helps. It helps me be able to monitor the temperature that I need to burn wood at in order to keep too much smoke from leaving soot in the flu.

Does not work
Tried this on a US stove model 2000. Out of the package I put it on the stove about 12 in up the stove pipe as part of the instructions, and the needle would not move. I took it off tapped on it a little bit as per some other reviews, and it jumped into the 500° range. I took it off and let it cool off and it would not go back to 100 ° or lower. As per some other suggestions, I placed it in the oven at 400° to see if it would adjust, and it went up to 600°. After it cooled off, I took it back out tapped on it a little bit as many people suggested, and it will no longer go. Below 300° regardless of where it sets or hot or cold temperatures. 100% do not recommend this item.

You get what you pay for I suppose
I have a 1970s Earth Stove insert. I placed the thermometer on the side as the instructions said. The needle quite literally never got past 200 F. So I moved it to the front of my stove right above the door. It’s moved to about 300 F. I’m not totally sure this one is accurate.

Very quiet and effective
Although this is quite a small fan, it is very effective. It is extremely quiet when running and continues even as the stove cools. Excellent purchase, would happily recommend.

Helps to keep the stove burning efficiently
Having the thermometer to glance at helps reduce the number of times we open the door of the wood stove to check the fire. It also makes it more efficient for the chimney, to keep the stove at the proper heat. It seems to be accurate and the magnet is strong enough to keep it in place.
