The clip isn't spring loaded to close but it works well and holds my 140 pound dog fine. As good as youll find for the price.

I have a hound dog that has broken multiple leads and escaped standard dog clips, so we switched to a carabiner clip, again she escaped, so we switched to a locking carabiner, but after a while the lock unscrews. We were at our wits end until we stumbled across this clip. On the off chance she unclips one side she's still stuck because of the other side. She managed to unclip her collar but the collar was still clipped to this clip! So if you need something for your escape artist, I would whole heartedly suggest this time and time again!!

As a firefighter, we occasionally have to carry patients down in a carry seat or megamover, which is basically a tarp with nylon handles sewn into it. The handles can cut into your hands if the patient is heavy, making trips down multi-story walk-ups a pain. I use this buckle in conjunction with nylon webbing across my shoulder and clip in to the handle instead of using my hands. My legs do the lifting, the load is kept close to me, and now I have two free hands to guide myself, maintain balance, or hold the pts head as we walk. Once we get to the gurney, just squeeze to unclip and you're done! So far it has worked with all our pts without issue, and it's a real back saver.

I loved this clip enough that after my first one stopped working due to getting bent, either from getting tangled or stepped on, I immediately bought a new one. After a time the new one let me down. The neighbor knocked on my door with my dog. The clip had broken where it swivels and the dog was free to frolic around the neighborhood. Looking for something stronger now.
