The USA Network's White Collar adds charm and sex appeal to high-end crime prevention. In the pilot, con man Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer, easy on the eyes) escapes from prison four months before his release. FBI agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay, having more fun than he did on HBO's Carnivále ) tracks him down and works out a deal: to avoid more time, Caffrey will serve as his consultant. If he splits the scene, he'll get life. Though trust remains an issue, the men have a likable rapport, a big key to the show's success. Neal finds lodgings when he hits it off with wealthy widow June (the ever-classy Diahann Carroll), who sets him up with her loft and her husband's duds (including a fedora). While Caffrey's girlfriend, Kate, has gone missing, Burke has been married to Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen), an event planner, for a decade. Though Agent Fowler (Noah Emmerich) does his best to trip him up, Caffrey searches for Kate when he isn't working on cases involving theft, fraud, forgery, and insider trading with Burke, Hughes (James Rebhorn), and Jones ( ER 's Sharif Atkins). Off the books, he receives assistance from his impish pal, Mozzie ( Sex and the City 's Willie Garson, whose Bruce Willis impression is a highlight). If White Collar is more upbeat than most procedurals, some details don't add up, like when a TV producer conducts an impromptu interview with a stranger who drops by the studio unannounced--Caffrey also reproduces a masterwork in a matter of hours--but the clever twists compensate for the occasional leaps of faith. As with Law & Order , the show also serves as a love letter to Manhattan. First-season extras include deleted scenes, featurettes, and commentary from the cast and creator Jeff Eastin, who's come a long way since Shasta McNasty . --Kathleen C. Fennessy In this clever and thrilling new TV series; charming con man Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) escapes from a maximum security prison; only to be recaptured by his nemesis; FBI Agent Peter Burke (Tim DeKay). With few options; Caffrey agrees to help the bureau bring down other elusive criminals in exchange for his eventual freedom. But before long; Caffrey finds himself playing a game of cat and mouse with those who want him back in prison or dead. Co-starring Tiffani Thiessen (Beverly Hills; 90210); White Collar is sewn with surprising twists; engaging characters and riveting excitement. Review: An episode with redemption for all. - Great episode and season. Love stories about not so bad bad guys. Neal's heart shows up in this fun episode and the dog lives. Love the early seasons before dark hearted Joe Henderson moved up in the ranks. Love the mobster coming up and knocking on the van door. Review: Should Be Higher Profile Than It Is - First of all, someone at USA Network, or whomever they farm out their DVD stuff to, should be given a big raise. Why? Because I had barely ever heard of White Collar before I saw the pilot episode on the Season Four DVD set of Burn Notice, another USA show. It was there, I had 45 minutes to kill, so I watched it. And ordered White Collar Season One on my next desertcart purchase. Genius, give people a taste of something, seemingly for free, and get them to spend some money later. Give that person/people a raise or a promotion. Or both. White Collar is another of those charismatic cop shows that have started popping up since The Mentalist came out. I would imagine that White Collar was in development before that happened, but you can't say that Simon Baker and company didn't grease the skids. The premise is simple: Neil Caffrey (Matt Bomer), a forger, theif and all around 'white collar' crook offers to help his FBI catcher, Peter Burke (Tim DeKay). The deal is this: Caffrey helps Burke with his cases, Burke keeps him out of prison. But Caffrey has another agenda as well, his missing ex-girlfriend Kate (Alexandra Daddario), who may or may not be under the control of elements in the FBI. His search for her, abetted by his friend Mozz (Willie Garson), tends to complicate his professional relationship with Burke, though Burke's wife Eleanor (Tiffani Thiesson) is in Neil's corner, mostly. Neil might just be the smartest TV cop there is, other than Simon Baker's Patrick Jane from The Mentalist (technically they're both consultants), and that's part compliment part problem, as both characters are geniuses whose personal obsessions are often their undoings. But they're right a bit too often and easily for realism's sake. Except that you like both of them so much that ultimately you don't really care. That's what Matt Bomer brings to the role, he's convincing as a crook with a heart of gold, and is so smooth that it makes me wonder why it took him so long to break out as an actor. He's got a ton of talent, this won't be his last star vehicle. Tim DeKay's Peter Burke tries to be the by the book FBI agent, but Neil is not the best influence on him, though they get the job done. As the season (14 episodes) goes on, he looks the other way more and more often, showing a nice gray area as the two of them become friends and learn to trust each other, a bit. What I didn't like about him was his constant threatening to Neil to put him back in prison if Case X didn't get solved. Memo to the writers: No FBI agent/team solves every single case in a couple of days, or else. DeKay seemed to overact at times, but I wonder if it was just the contrast to Bomer's smoothness, I'm conflicted there. Thiessen plays the loving wife, and her byplay with Neil and Mozz is hilarious when it happens. Mozz is the loyal best friend and wingman for Neil, and Garson plays him humorously, but not slapsticky. He gets most of the best lines, but that's his job. The episodes are part single stories, combined with the overall 'find out what happened to Kate' subplot that runs through each of them. The crimes are highbrow, given the title and theme of the show, and while murder is involved sometimes, it's not that kind of show. The season ended on......not a cliffhanger per se, but a 'What the......!??!' kind of moment that was not what I was expecting. That's a good thing by the way. Yeah, I'll be getting Season Two. Interesting plot(s), good, sometimes really good, acting, and a fast moving pace. White Collar is a winner, and while I had a couple of quibbles, it doesn't take away from a 5 star rating. Maybe more networks should put pilots of their newer shows on DVD's for their hits. Worked with me, my hard earned dollars are on their way to them. Five stars.

It Takes a Thief...
This is a fantastic DVD set. The acting and writing wonderful, combining drama and well crafted story lines with clever wit and humor. This show is urbane, sophisticated, and fun. The relationship between a by-the-book FBI agent teaming up with a rules-were-made-to-be-broken con artist gives White Collar it's entertainment value. Besides the quality of the writing of the individual episodes, the writers are also smart enough to keep up the subplot of going in almost every episode. The characters are easy to relate to, fitting a "type" without every falling into the stereotypical. The DVD itself is also well done. The discs all play well, and the packaging is an efficient use of space, and popping the discs in and out is a breeze. The extras are good, the commentaries are entertaining and enlightening, the gag reel is funny, and the featurettes are well worth watching. Overall, this set is a good buy for any White Collar fan.

The White Collar series is one of our favorites
These "Used in Good Shape" DVD disks of Season One - White Collar are in perfect shape. Many of the older Series shows are only available in DVD and not available in blu-ray which is fine. I have the remaining 5 seasons of White Collar on DVD. Our blu-ray / 4K player upscales the disks that are played, so these DVD disks play at somewhat higher resolution than DVD's, but a bit less quality than a blu-ray disk. We originally watched White Collar on streaming platform and it was not available on Amazon Streaming so we purchased the Season DVD's instead since it was very affordable for the used good condition disks. We really love the cast: Neal, Peter, Elizebeth, Mozzie, Sara, Clinton, Diana and all the others. They have really good chemistry together, and the acting is top notch. Great Series.

I wish there were more shows like this today
It's a drama, has comedy, mystery, crime-solving, & even some action. The main characters are all very likeable and they have great chemistry together. It has a good storyline with plot twists, and with all that it makes for an intriguing series that easily keeps you hooked, wanting to watch more. The two main characters, Peter & Neal, develop a close bond over the series while also having a natural sort of "uneasy/distrust" of each other that creeps up from time to time because of their chosen career paths & background (FBI agent, forger/conman). The story, friendships/relationships & (most) situations don't feel forced or too unrealistic. It's a refreshing, easy show to watch, and I wish there were more great well-written shows like this today. I'm glad I purchased the whole series on DVD so I can rewatch it over & over!

MATT BOMER

Sexy and Intriguing
I just love this show. I bought all six seasons on DVD even though I have Netflix, but I have to watch Netflix on my computer, which is a smaller screen. I much prefer the large screen version of Matt Bomer's beautiful face. This is a great story about a charming, sophisticated, cultured con man who makes a deal with the FBI to be their "consultant" in exchange for finishing his prison time in the outside world within a two-mile restricted radius on an anklet in Manhattan. Neal Caffrey is absolutely lovable and enigmatic. We're never quite sure throughout the series whether he is going straight or if he just can't resist his old ways of art forgery and theft. He's a great character and I love the way Bomer plays Neal. Neal's sidekick, Mozzie (Willie Garson) is extremely clever and endearing and his FBI supervisor Peter (Tim DeKay) is cute and funny. I found a lot of humor and intrigue in most of the episodes, but after a while some of them seemed repetitive. Still, I could watch them over and over again because I have such a girl crush on MB. It also bothers me that reporters keep asking him if it's hard to be an openly gay man playing a straight role. Please, *everybody* on the screen is playing a role. Nobody, or very few actors, are dying to jump their colleagues. It's an act. That's why they get paid the big bucks, to memorize and rehearse and play a part so effectively that we believe that they are someone else.

difetto selezione lingue
Come serietv davvero bello!!!

best cop show for a long time
As a rule i dont normally watch shows like this as they tend to all be the same but there is something quite different and exciting about White Collar which makes it stand out from the rest, the casting is perfect, all the characters are funny and very likeable which makes it easy to watch and the story lines are great, not once did i get bored and very surprised at that as normally you find 1 or more episode abit boring. I love the relationship between the FBI agent burke and caffrey, sometimes its like watching a married couple. I bought this dvd 2days after it came out as i love it and thats something i never do so i shocked myself actually, so i would recommend it to anyone of any age, obviously 12 or older. This gets an A++++++++++++++++++++++ from me!!!!!
