Genius little thing but expensive
This little $14 piece of plastic works great for use as intended. Genius little thing. So far I only have one finger that needs it. Would buy again if I lost it or another finger starts sticking. Only wear at night. A couple of burrs on the outside had to be filed down but easy enough. Size was perfect.

Surprisingly effective
I suffer from trigger finger and arthritic thumb pain. The trigger finger and thumb pain both seem exacerbated by sleep "activity" (clinching?). Wearing these at night greatly reduces incidents of locked fingers. They are surprisingly comfortable; I stop realizing I have them on within minutes. They rarely fall off unless sized too big. I have been using open finger glove type braces for my thumb. Over time, the band, on the glove, that rides between the thumb and index finger causes sores (very slow to heal!), probably due to rubbing (oddly, only happens on one hand). So, I decided to try these "3-pointers" on my thumb. Seem to be working well. Sizing for thumb was slight problem as my thumb needs a size 16 and these only go to size 15, but, although a little tight, not causing any problem. These are not really wearable during the day as they really do immobilize the finger/thumb. Sizing is very important and can be tricky. Ring size generally works, but I've purchased enough of these so I've gotten a good sense of how they fit. They seem a bit pricy for a tiny bit of molded plastic, but for the amount of pain relief they provide, worth every penny.

Great but only One splint!
The splint works well. The picture is misleading. It shows two splints, but you only receive one. It does say in small print that it is one splint and it doesn’t allow you to choose the color. Just know you get one splint for the price.

Size 9 is not a size 9... it reads on splint 8 - 9
UPDATE: 10/8/13 ** WEAR IT UPSIDE DOWN** I had to take it off. The hard Plastic oval 8 around my knuckle was digging into my knuckle every time it BENT. If you wear it as PICTURED, your finger eventually bends to the point of the Trigger Finger thunking. Isn't this supposed to hold the finger from BENDING? Well it WILL NOT STOP YOUR FINGER FROM BENDING if you try and wear it as PICTURED in the photo. So I've had it in my drawer for weeks and my knuckle is still sore from the irritation of wearing the hard plastic over my knuckle for over 9 hours that one day. TODAY I decided to "google" Oval 8 finger splints. I discovered you can wear it UPSIDE DOWN and it will stops your finger from bending. In fact it is PERFECT worn upside down with the "THICK ring looking Band" ON TOP of the finger, just below the top of your knuckle - NOT UNDER the finger as Pictured! Worn correctly - it is just snug enough to hug hug your finger, just before the "bending knuckle" and the oval 8 PART is UNDER the finger and prevents it from bending. DUH! Therefore it stops the bending of the finger... PERIOD! The size 8-9 is perfect for me if worn that way. NO purple finger either. I though it would slide off, but it is holding nicely as I type and there is not tightness to make me want to futz with it. I can see This is going to work. YEEEE HA! ============================================================================= FIRST REVIEW - WORN AS PICTURED IN PHOTO!!!! I actually went out and bought a ring sizer kit. You know with all the rings on it. I am a size 9. However you should order a size up because it reads 8-9 and the 9 is too tight. It seemed ok (a tad tight)at first until I noticed my finger underneath was PURPLE! Purple as in stops the circulation. This is a hard plastic and not soft in any way - so there is NO GIVE. I liked the way you can bend your finger down, but it stops it (almost stops it) to the point where your trigger finger will snap. You can force it to close further, but it is a reminder to not do it. I hope the 9 - 10 fits better. Had I known this was an (EIGHT) 8 - 9 I would have bought the 9 - TEN. However they do not tell you the varying size difference. That is just plain misleading and leads to one ordering a size that will not fit. (I WROTE TO THE SUPPLIER) THEY HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF REPLACING IT AND WON'T TAKE IT BACK. THEY WANT ME TO BUY AN EXPENSIVE HEAT GUN AND HEAT IT UP AND STRETCH IT. I TRIED BOILING IT IN HOT WATER, TO NO AVAIL.) I give it one star for the misleading ring sizing AND THEIR REFUSAL TO MAKE IT RIGHT BUY EXCHANGING IT.

effective - yet overpriced
7/18/14 It is comfortable once you figure out how to wear it - but no more so than other more traditional splints. And if your finger is swollen it is actually less comfortable than a full finger length splint. There are no instructions included whatsoever and worse...the illustration you see here has the user wearing it backwards. Its a plastic loop that arrives in a plastic baggie. Maybe there is a total of 39 cents worth of plastic in this product....but it is effective and is an aid to my trigger finger issues once the swelling subsides and I can wear it. I'm suffering through my third bout of trigger finger - in three different fingers. I had surgery on one, have had the second heal by way of natural anti-inflammatory herb formulas (Curamin, Penetrex and Zyflamend) and exercise. Experiencing flare up in index finger of right hand currently. Wear this at night especially while sleeping. Be patient it can take weeks. This item is probably best utilized after starting with full length finger splint during acute phase of trigger finger. Once you reduce swelling with natural anti-inflammation products suggested above, and cold therapy wrap ( Torex Professional Hot and Cold Therapy Roll on Finger Sleeves Universal size. you could use the Oval 8 splint for the healing phase. It is small and unobtrusive...much less than full length splint. Two star penalty for zero instructional assistance from the manufacturer and overpricing the product. You can get cheaper splints at local drug store that are just as effective and are adjustable (this oval 8 is not) but more bulky at less than half the price, And indeed you can use simple Scotch tape around the middle joint of the injured finger in a pinch. As long as it immobilizes finger from bending it will provide the rest needed for healing. Comfort level is good and while 12 bucks isn't a fortune in general - for a plastic loop its excessive. Update: 8/1/14 I now have two of these expensive plastic loops. Why? Well it does work - thats why I bought another one in spite of the 3 star rating. However, the design is such that you need an extra large while your finger is swollen and a smaller one once the swelling subsides. This is essentially a ring with an extended oval loop that creates the support and prevents you from bending your finger....so you can rest the tendons. Ever try to slide a ring off and on when your finger is swollen? Yeah...so you're likely going to need two of them. I have a ringer finger size of around 10-10.5. I'm now wearing a size 13 splint and have a size 12 (the original I purchased) that I'll wear once my swelling diminishes. The original I bought in a size 12 actually increased the swelling as I squeezed my finger through the ring. The size 13 is much more comfortable during this period of tenderness and swelling, but will all but fall off afterwards. And, an acute trigger finger injury can take weeks so I still need the support. Enter the size 12 loop to take me through the second phase of reduced swelling but continued rest therapy. So, I now have $23 invested in 78 cents worth of plastic. The darn thing works but if you follow that logic (hey it works so who cares how much it costs...) then why stop at $11.50? Charge us $20 a piece or more....hey it works!? Bottom line: an over-priced solution to trigger finger therapy...but a solution nevertheless.

Ingenious design, functional, easy to use product helps heal trigger finger/thumb
Oval-8 Finger Splint Single Size Pack - Size 9 (Package of 1) I was delighted to find this design of finger splint, having struggled with athletic self stick bandages, clumsy braces, and those horrible metal splints. I have managed two trigger fingers for years using a tube made out of athletic bandage at night to keep the fingers straight and allow them to rest. When I developed a trigger thumb, it was critical to find a way to immobilize the thumb as I wanted to avoid surgery. I found the Oval-8 originally in a medical supply store while looking for a better athletic tape, and was absolutely delighted at the simplicity of design, sturdiness, and easy of use. Cheaper to buy on Amazon as well. Each sized splint is designed to be both a full and half size depending on which end is put on first - and my thumb swells occasionally, so I keep several sizes on hand and can easily choose the right fit for that day. Washing hands, using gloves, performing any task is pretty easy with minor functional issues (hard to put on jewelry for example). After about 6 months of wearing the Oval-8, my trigger thumb pain and inflammation is gone, and I can actually function without it now. Be aware that if you wear the Oval-8 18-24 hours a day, you may develop skin irritation at the points of most contact. I solved that problem by wearing a small bandaid over the knuckle of my thumb (just wear a larger size Oval-8). Theorizing that my condition likely would reoccur if I just stopped using the Oval-8, I now wear the splint at the office for computer work, and at home part of the day. I remove it when I get home from work and use the hand normally during the evening. Then I use one of the tubes I create from a pretty purple athletic wrap, so my hand is quite the sight at night, with the thumb and two fingers decorated! Using the softer option for sleep works for me. I highly recommend the Oval-8. Ingeniously designed products like this help consumers of health care manage conditions that otherwise require invasive techniques at much lower cost with many fewer side effects. As a medical librarian, I teach consumer health and plan to use this experience as a case study example for my workshops.

TEN STARS!!
I would give this TEN stars! I have arthritis in my thumb from crocheting. This is a lightweight, heavy duty plastic that I am able to wear comfortably and does not affect my crocheting, while still staying securely in place. My PT recommended it, and I told her it's my "bionic thumb". Honestly the difference is like night and day! I am completely satisfied, and the seller is FANTASTIC, plus it was delivered to me a week earlier than expected! :)
