Another Kate Toms Success
This may be a biased review because our family loves Kate Toms books, and our favorite animals are penguins. So I think we were destined to love this book. My boys love counting out the animals on each page. I would highly recommend to active listeners (kids who like to point and discuss while being read to). Great little book with fun illustrations. It's a hit with the little ones!

Cute! Especially for little penguin lovers.
I didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! So much so that I'm planning to purchase more Kate Toms Series books. The pictures are very imaginative and colorful with so many things to examine! The little penguins have all sorts of things that happen to keep them out of the action (one at a time) but then in a surprise they're all reunited in the end! One thing to note - The board pages in this book are NOT sturdy so it's best only for supervised reading or older toddlers.

We first encountered this book on loan from my local library, but it was so beloved by my then 9 or 10 month old son that we had to buy him his own copy. The rhymes and rhythms are simple and enjoyable, and the penguins amusingly rendered. But the best thing about the book is, I think, the beautiful illustrations, which take the form of fabric collages. The designs are excellent - colorful but not too crowded - yet still with enough detail to keep my young son coming back and back and back again. "Dat! Dat!" as he himself would say, waving a finger in the air in the general direction of his bookshelf. We love the book and it is still a favourite nearly six months later.
