The most exciting road trip in history begins! In this action-packed, New York Times bestselling adventure, twelve-year-old twins Coke and Pepsi McDonald embark on a family vacation you'll have to read to believe. Coke McDonald and his twin sister, Pepsi, think their family’s cross-country RV vacation is nothing to get excited about...until they’re chased off a cliff, locked in a burning school, and receive mysterious messages in codes and ciphers. From California to Wisconsin, it’s a race against time to find out who’s after Coke and Pep, who’s leaving the notes...and just what being a part of The Genius Files entails! With the real-kid humor that has earned Dan Gutman millions of fans around the world, and featuring weird-but-true American tourist destinations, The Genius Files is a one-of-a-kind mix of geography and fun. As Coke and Pep dodge nefarious villains from the Pez museum in California all the way to the Infinity Room in Wisconsin, black-and-white photographs and maps put young readers right into the action. And don't miss the next leg of the journey in The Genius Files: Never Say Genius ! Review: It is amazing book - It is good for kids , my boys love it Review: Love this book...it was a real page tuner for my 8 year old son. - My son loves the Dan Gutman books, its something about his writing style and dry sense of humor that keeps my son interested. He read this book out loud to my husband and I over the 2 week winter break and he loved it.Did I mention my son does not like to read...he thinks school should be lunch, recess and P.E., so have him getting the book without prompting was huge! He especially liked the different ways the twins were able to escape certain death. I would highly recommend this book. If your child is not 10 or 11 and able to decipher several multi-syllable words I recommend reading this book together, because anyone with young readers knows they will just make it up and that will change the meaning the sentence. Overall a great read! If you have reluctant reader I would also recommend the "weird school series" by Dan those are quick reads and very entertaining.

Good Read
Our 9 year old son enjoyed this book immensely and then lent it to an 11 year old girl to read. She also like it. The storyline along with the informational bits made the story very interesting. I would recommend it highly to a boy or girl to read. Good for ages 9 to 14.

Nice!
I read this after an editor who had read a draft of a book of mine recommended Dan Gutman and this series as something to read. Well, it did help me with my own work, but I gotta tell you, it's damn good anyway. For one thing, I've been most of the places the kids visit in this book (and in book 2, for that matter) and really enjoyed them. This book is a mystery, adventure, action-packed, uh, travel guide. No kidding. Ever been to Cedar Point? These guys have! Good humor for everyone, and some villains who are, shall we say, not the brightest bulbs on the string, yes? "The places in this book are real. You can visit them. You should visit them." And buy the book to read along the way.

Interesting read!
We got this Gutman book because of the other books my 10 year Old loves by him. These are a bit older though so we are shelving it for now. They have a bit of humor that we older (canabilism jokes and whatnot). He's not really into the dark humor stuff. I'm any case, it seems like an interesting spy mystery novel.

Great Read-Aloud!
I have three daughters ages 11, 10, and 9. We took turns reading chapters aloud from this Kindle e-book. It was a lot of fun! And while I can understand some reviewer's concerns with issues of the kids trusting strangers, etc., those are great times to have conversations with your kids about those issues. What we loved about this book was how the author wove in so many fun facts about America, and all the quirky places to visit! So many funny moments! When Coke finally "did the dump" was the best!! The situations the kids found themselves in were definitely dangerous, but it was great to see them learn to work together, and survive. I highly recommend this book series as a read-aloud, or for an older child (9-12) to read themselves. We're looking forward to reading the next installment!

Who coldn't love this book?
I teach 5th grade and all of my students know who Dan Gutman is. They have read most of his books before coming into my class. This series is great for 4th and 4th graders because it's not too easy but a quick and fun read. Boys and girls alike love this series. The kids love that the main characters names are Coke and Pepsi McDonald and that they can go on the computer to see all the places the twins stop. The book has great action, a dynamic twin duo and fun places to learn about as the McDonald twins try to avoid being killed as they ride along with their parents in a RV. I have read all the books in The Genius Files series and would highly recommend the books!

She loved it!
I got this book on Kindle for my 9 year old daughter, who is capable of reading 5th grade material but seems to choose a lot of graphic novels and potty humor books. She really enjoyed reading it, and couldn't put it down while on vacation in Oregon. She clued me in on the story line 5-6 times while she was reading it, which doesn't happen often, so I know she was very into the plot line and the characters. I would highly recommend it. Everything we've read from Dan Gutman has been great!!

OK.. way too American for many!
Many great points, lots of vocab., not a bad idea making it interactive by using google maps to track "the twins". If you don't mind a bit of America is the most important place in the world type thinking, then this would be 5 stars for you.

Okay not great.
I thought thise book was pretty repetitive and boring at times and it was unfortunate they felt the need to mention 9/11 in a children's book. I hope the other books are better.
