SonicWALL 01-SSC-4982 TZ 215 TotalSecure Appliance

This router does almost all the things a really expensive Cisco router does at a fraction of the price. Of course it has it limitations such as how many VLans you can have but for a small business this should be more than enough.Packaging was adequate and overall setup was fairly easy. There were two problems I ran into.1. When I first went to log in it should've greeted me with the configuration wizard but it only prompted me that I have been logged out and needed to log back in. I found the default password and logged in User - admin password - password and it brought me to the configuration page.2. The first time I login it tells me I have been logged out, after I log in a second time it brings me to the config page.Those two issue happened even when I tried with multiple computers and browsers. But I won't deduct a star for it because I was still able to use the router.Since I have configured other TZ105/TZ205 routers setting this one up was simple.Pros-Handles network traffic fast.Global VPN client makes it easy for remote users to connect.Tons of options.Gigabit ports and a total of 7 ports.Sonicwall forums for peer to peer support.Cons-License based everything. Global VPN, intrusion detects, virus protects, and more.Documentation is a little outdated but should be sufficient to get you by even the older stuff.You have to register the router with Sonicwall.Overall if you need a solid router for VPN connectivity and basic routing this is a great product though most small businesses could use the TZ205 this router supports more VPN users in total.

It could be use without all those subscriptions.This is for business, and it is not that expensive to renew those subscriptions.But it is stupid that... the content filter doesn't has a report?! And we have to buy another report feature separately...This would be great if those ports are in the front, and make a cheaper rack mount please... who would pay 1/3 of the firewall price for the... 2 pieces of mount?!

Good price and works fine, no issues with that. The only problem is they don't respond when they have a problem. I don't mean a day later, or a week later, or a month later. I mean never. In this case, the router has a bug to where there are no scroll bars available with any computer or browser, so you cannot see the objects in the middle of the alphabet. My request was simple. It explained the problem in detail and asked if they had an update coming soon that I should wait for before going live? 7 requests, 2 months old, 0 replies.

terrific high security firewall router, great price and features, read manual and install carefully, excellent tech support.

We have used these many times before. Works just as advertised

I have used sonicwalls for years now and they have always performed very well. The OS is still a bugger though to get configured and the NAT rules are still confusing, but overall I love them.

per seat vpn is kind of lame but the firewall is great overall. Make sure this is what you need by checking with Dell first but if it matches your needs this is one of the best security devices in the business
