Matterport Parent Case

The build quality of this roller case is nothing short of exceptional; you can tell just how much effort Matterport have taken to deliver such a well made product from literally every part: • Case Exterior: The shell of the case is extremely robust, it could handle a good bump or more; I've even stood on it and it held up very well. • Carry Handle: This has a nice amount of friction when pulling up or pushing down which prevent it from flapping around when manoeuvring; it it also has a nice amount of rubber for extra grip. • Pull-Out Handle: Surprised this part doesn't have a rubberised grip but it's still comfortable to handle when tugging along; the locking mechanism keeps the handle from accidentally collapsing. • Latch Locks: One latch on each of the shorter ends and three on the long edge; each latch required you to push down a slider before lifting which shows just how secure they are when locked in place. The latches also have a nice amount of friction so they don't fall down and get in the way. • Padlock Holes: For further security, there are two padlock holes which has a diameter of 1cm. • Wheels: The wheels on my case where a bit different from the photos advertised as mine had no tread compared to the photos which do; this isn't exactly an issue and I found them to make manoeuvring the case a smooth process. • Inner Foam: The top half is a soft foam whereas the bottom half is hard. This case is made to be used with Matterport's own Pro2 3D Camera and tripod etc... as it is pre-cut to perfectly fit these items in. The thing I do want to point our is that the product page (at the time of review) states: "5 layers of 1.38” inch pluckable foam interior"; this I found to be INCORRECT as it seems to be one huge bit of foam and there are no squares to pluck out; whilst this is a shame, I can easily buy some pluckable foam and replace it. If you want a top-notch and extremely durable case for your 'Pro 3D Camera' then this roller case is a no-brainer. If you are wanting such case to place other gear inside, be prepared to buy more foam to customise to your needs. Despite the mis-advertisement of the foam, the quality is overwhelmingly good, so I will knock half a star off the total, leaving a rating of 4.5 / 5 stars.

The case arrived safely, and it comes nicely packed inside a sturdy cardboard box. Everything about this case is incredibly well engineered, it’s very high quality and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into the design and functions of it. the case offers the ultimate protection for your gear and its super durable with even the weaker areas like the hinges are well reinforced. The only slight drawback mine has is that the wheels are made from a smooth, soft plastic instead of the rubber off-road type tyres you can see in the manufacturers images. The case is both water and dustproof, you can tell as every time you unlock it you can hear some air being released. When you open the case, you must first release the five latches by pushing down on the red switches before you can lift them up. For security, there are two 1cm diameter padlock holes located on the front of the case. The foam on the inside is pre-cut to accommodate your Pro2 camera, tripod, and accessories. The manufacturers description mentions it has 5 layers of pluckable foam, but this is incorrect, the foam in the case I received cannot be modified but the whole block can easily slide out so you could put your own custom one in if you wish. The foam is very high quality and would definitely do an excellent job of protecting your gear. As you can imagine for a heavy-duty case it weighs quite a lot, even when empty. If you need two people to carry it, then there is a handle on each side of the case, but you can also wheel it around by pulling up the handle of the back of the case. The two side handles have a rubber covering on the underside of them, but the roller handle is just hard plastic. Overall, I think this is the ultimate heavy-duty case for keeping your expensive Matterport camera gear very well protected and it’s such a high-quality item. Clearly, the description and images on this page need updating as the case I received has quite a few differences in the design but most of them seem for the better, so I imagine this is the newer revision that’s all. It’s a product I’m more than happy to recommend and I feel it’s worth the full five stars, buy with total confidence!

This is the strongest case I've seen in a while. I could say it is bulletproof and nothing can get into it, not even a heavy hit by the hammer if you wish. This fact is showing how well protected your gear would be if you decide to get this case for it. Inside the case is super thick and well-cut hard foam for every bit of gear to fit in its place and stay where you left it. No shakes, movement or any similar activity of the gear can happen. This means your gear will be safe at any time under any conditions. However, after opening it I got hit by a strong unpleasant smell that filled in my room in no time. This smell is the same as hydrogen peroxide. I am familiar with this smell as my mom is a hairdresser and I often can smell the same thing when she is dying her or someone else hair. I'd strongly recommend you to take it outside and open it outdoors and leave it to ventilate for a few hours. To continue with benefits you will get where the majority is on its rigid composition is that to close or open the case you have safety lock clips which have push and unclip mechanism. This provides reliability and the case won't open in any way if you are not expecting it to open. Smooth-rolling wheels allow you to roll the case without any notice of how heavy it is or that you have gear inside either. Overall, it is a strong, rigid and perfect reliable case for expensive equipment that can be carried in it.

This case is specifically designed to carry a GoPro camera, I think made by Matterport and which costs well over £2000. If you’re a professional photographer with expensive equipment, or even an amateur who takes the camera everywhere, this case is definitely going to provide the protection needed for expensive equipment and will be worth every penny. It’s made of some type of plastic shell, so it’s totally rigid. The wheels are strong and roll evenly and the clips are very secure. It can be licked. The extending handle is comfortable to hold and pulls out and returns with ease. On opening there’s a very strong chemical smell from the foam interior. I took it outside and left it open for a couple of hours and the smell faded. The cut outs are designed to ensure that once the camera and accessories are placed, they’ll be totally secure and not affected by movement. So the case delivers exactly what’s expected from a high end item. I’ve seen other cases for less, but this one does have the edge in terms of appearance and quality so I guess you get what you pay for. I have guitars and pay a similar price for hard cases for secure travel and it’s worth the cost to protect an expensive Fender. For that reason, despite the smell, I’ve given this 5 stars.

This is a fantatsic case to help protect, store and transport you precious camera equiptment in. It is designed to hold the very prestigious Pro2 3D camera I have alterted the inserts to fit my own studio equipment inside but the foam I found isnt pluckable as it said, I had to literally cut it myself. The shell is very tough, it is made of polypropylene copolymer which is very robust but also has light properties so it is not too heavy. The inside is thick with sturdy foam which protects your equipment from scratches and damages even if this thing was dropped, your stuff inside will have the best possible protection. What makes this case even more unique is that it is IP67 rated, so it can withstand dusty environments and even water. When you spend thousands on camera equipment you need protection like this and this ticks all the boxes. The case also has a pull out chunky handle and casters for even easier transportation. It is ruberised for extra grip and the caster wheels provide smooth transportation even over bumpy terrain with no shakes. The latches provide a firm seal. This case is the premium case you need for your equipment - its really is a professional case worthy of its price tag.

This case is the bees knees of hard cases. I wanted something for packing drone equipment into for the van to keep secure on longer drives especially when the van is packed with stuff. This case arrived and I wasn’t disappointed. The cutouts inside are obviously made for the specific camera but with a sharp knife and a few cuts here and there I was able to modify this to fit the drones and controllers into the case. The hard wheel is super solid providing me with tons of confidence it will keep my equipment safe and secure. The case has eyelets for padlocks if required and several latches round the lid make sure it stays shut until you want it open. The case has a pull out handle and wheels so easy to wheel around when required and finally it’s waterproof so no worries when I’m wheeling it to the hotel room and it’s chucking it down now. Very happy with this case. It’s extremely sturdy and well made so worth the extra cost for peace of mind.

The case itself is incredibly well made and I have no doubts that it will withstand some serious knocks if necessary, doing an excllent job of protecting the camera inside it. The materials are all top notch, as is the contruction and attention to detail. However I do feel it's expensive, probably because it's designed for a specific product, but I've used similar generic cases in the past that were just as well made and cost significantly less. Finally, the foam inside the case has a very strong chemical smell that I don't like at all. Hopefully it will fade over time. Perhaps the manufacturer could air them out a bit better before sealing them shut for delivery to customers?

Fit perfect. This is what should have been included with the camera. Perfect. Doesn’t have enough space for the tripod but I am glad it doesn’t. Everything else fits. Thank you

This case does not fit the Pro 3 camera. I contacted Matterport support immediately upon receiving this case and they “expedited” the help request as I was leaving for an extended trip. 3 days later I finally hear from the support team. The support team member requested a copy of my receipt which I sent within minutes of the request. 3 days later I get an email that they are waiting for my response. Matterport is showing who they are as a company. The camera works great. So far their service is terrible. To further update this review, after 10 days the matter remains unresolved. I was asked daily for copies of my receipt, which were provided. I was asked for photos, which were provided. Not ONE TIME was my actual issue discussed. Not once. Matterport support failed in every possible way. The absolute worst support service I have ever received from any company in my long history of shopping. Do not recommend. Does not fit device. Support is worse than useless.
