I bought this so I could check the internal temperature when cooking a lot of mixed food items on the bbq. I normally use a Meater probe which is brilliant for large single pieces of meat that require a longer cook. This is great for when you have lots of different items on the bbq. The advantage of the Javelin is that you can quickly jump between burgers, steaks, sausages, and anything else you happen to be cooking. The response time is fairly quick and the build quality seems good. The temperature reading can be toggled between Fahrenheit and Celsius by changing the tiny switch in the battery compartment. I've used cheaper meat thermometers but I think this hits the sweet spot with a good combination of quality and value.

This is great. It works super quickly to get a reading and I like that it has a little magnet on the back so I can store it on my refrigerator near my stove for quick access rather than hunt around for it in one of my kitchen drawers.
