bbfly-BF32301 USB FTDI Chip OBD-II Scan Tool for Windows Auto Diagnostic Scanner OBD2

I am using this scanner with TigerTool, software for Windows PC, to allow Triumph motorcycle user to access the ECU.I think it is important to know Windows 11 Home comes with the drivers to enable communication with the PC. In other words don't follow the instructions to install drivers frombbflyobd.com. The web page doesn't work well anyway and often responds with 504 gateway timeouts.I was able to read the ECU on my motorcycle without additional drivers. The product and software I used works great without driver installation.

I purchased this to use with a free diagnostic software app (TigerTool) that had been developed for certain Triumph motorcycles to reset maintenance intervals, bleed the ABS brakes, check throttle-body balance, and read/clear ECU error codes. The software developer recommended this particular "bbfly" brand of OBD-II scan tool, because he developed the software for the particular FTDI chip in this scan tool. Apparently there are a number of cheap scanners on the market that are using cloned chips (I don't know the actual details, that's just what I'm surmising) that may not work correctly with his software.Following the instructions that came with the scan tool, I downloaded the correct driver, loaded it on my Windows 10 laptop and then connected the scan tool to a USB port. It was recognized right away and the correct driver loaded without an issue. Following the software developer's procedure (and making sure the correct port was set in the software), the scanner interfaced with my Triumph's ECU, and I was able to determine the error code clear it.

I bought this hoping to easily scan my vehicles, but the setup was more of a pain than it was worth. First off the website is blacklisted by avast antivirus, so that's one red flag. I used an old computer to try and download the software recommended but nothing downloads, even after bypassing my security software. The instructions are very vague, and the model I ordered isn't even listed in them. Then it tells you to download drivers from multiple websites and it doesn't tell you which drivers you need. After an hour of trying various download attempts and combinations I quit.

I bought this to use to reset maintenance reminders on my 2018 Triumph Tiger 1200 XRx when doing my own oil changes etc. It worked successfully with the free TigerTool app for this purpose.

Despite having a really nice Bluetooth unit from another manufacturer, it didn't support all the protocols I needed for a specific diagnostic computer application. This specific scan tool did support that protocol, so I was able to run my diagnostic tool to support a 2012 Triumph Tiger 800 XC. No clue if this is a clone or authentic chip, but I do know that it worked perfectly without any driver gymnastics. That's a big deal for this unit being at its price point.

tried all types of settings and drivers and it will not work with guzzidiag even though it has the FTDi 232RL chipset inside (I opened the case up and verified this)

software comes on mini disc and I had minor issues transferring to my laptop which doesn't have a dvd. website wasn't much help

I used this to connect my motorcycle to the computer. Great price point for an item lightly used.
