As a casual chess player looking to play more timed games w/friends (and possibly in a tournament one day).I think Wholesale basic chess clock or Leap basic chess clock (they are the same clock) are the best chess clock for 20 dollars. As they come in a nice box and both have bonus and delay features.The only other 20 dollar chess clock – is the DGT 1001 and the clock has no bonus or delay feature and it feels pretty cheap.This complaint is more about blitz and w/out sound. I wished the clock displayed the flag when your time runs out. If the match is pretty close – you may see double zeros and wonder who won on time (if sound is enable – this not an issue).With that said, I would actually recommend the Wholesale advance chess clock. It’s 10 dollars more (at 28), but with a bigger display and more features.

This is a good basic chess clock for simple games. Just beware that it might not have all the functions you might need for a larger tournament, like delays and multiple time increments. If all you need is a simple clock, this is a reliable purchase.

it's almost identical to the chess armory version but this one has a very satisfying weight to the clock presses! while the other brand feels flimsy and cheap. it's a otherwise, it runs on a single battery, and has delay, increment/bonus, and is simple to adjust. and even comes with a hard magnetic box?? it's a better deal than i expected honestly

I bought this to teach my kids chess and help them learn to use a timer and make moves more quickly. It has held up really well, no issues and the battery life is great. It's easy to use on either side of the chess board.

Works well

Great Budget clock. Feels pretty sturdy and I think it will hold up fine as long as it doesn't get crazy abused. It has both a count up and (more importantly) a countdown options. It also has both delay and bonus increment options. Although I do have to note that the bonus increment is a little quirky in that it adds the extra time at the beginning of your turn (so if you set the time to 5/5 you will actually start with 5:05) but again for the price of this clock I can not complain about such a minor detail.

When it's working right, which is most of the time, it's great. But every now and then it goes into a funk: setup skips some of the selections, and then it runs up (5:00 -> 5:01, etc.) even though there's time set on both clocks, which is supposed to signal it to run down. When this happens I pop out the battery for a "cold boot" and it works all right for a while after that. With so many other options, I'm not sure I'd recommend this clock.
