How do the remote controls work? I don't see any way to pair it with the light bulb, and can't change the settings.

I purchased the less expensive rectangular units that don’t have the dimmable bulbs so I can’t help you. But I can say the ones I purchased for church directory photos, worked exceptionally well. Highly recommended them.
