In its pages, you'll learn about: Bone reading Candle magic Conjure bags Building your own conjure altar Review: AWESOME READ - I really like that the author did it just say these are some of the ingredients used for certain working but she actually you you how to use the ingredients. Great history lessons on different people that played a huge role in conjure and stories with great morals. I would definitely recommend this book. Review: Donโt let the author give you pause - I know for those of us who practice this tradition the author alone would make us walk away from this book. This woman has a lot of respect for AA culture and it does show. While the book is repetitive to a degree I believe that the repetition is needed for ppl who are new to this tradition. You would do well to listen to this book more than once and understand how valuable some of this information is. Great book!

Authentic Rootwork, Traditional Conjure and hoodoo
This book is one of the best out there on conjure. It gives you a simple easy to read guide on what conjure is, the roots of where it came from ,how to get started doing work in this african america folk tradition. It reminds you to hold the Ancestors of this work in respect and to honor them first and foremost because thats who anyone who does this work owes it to and again all credit and reverence goes to the African Slaves whose traditions this work is Born from the blood, sweat, tears and death of the Slaves who lived, died and survived under some of the worst conditions in all of history. It also helps answer common questions a big one is that Hoodoo is NOT Vodou if anyone says they are thats a sure sign they dont know what theyre talking about because Vodou is an African religion where hoodoo/ conjure is an african and African american folk tradition heavily influenced by christianity.

Easy to read and follow - great resource
This book has tons of information for those looking to get into hoodoo or conjure. Many people have issues with information about black African traditions being 'taught' by white authors. I, however, felt that she paid great respect to its origins. I am open minded so I gave it a chance. I'm glad I did. Her respect for this practice (that she grew up with btw) is one of the reason I was so happy with my purchase. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for resources on conjure.

Wealth of insight and knowldege, if a little unorthodox
I love this book and the knowledge and traditions Starr Casas has chosen to share with the world. What hits home most: she makes it abundantly clear we need to come from a deep place of respect to the ancestors, for they are the reason we have this style and way of magick. She also teaches, that in many people's modern way of life, we don't understand what it was like to live the lives the ancestors did, and why these workings are done they way they are. It's awesome insight! All that said, my only wish, is that this book had a dedicated appendix and index with the scientific names of the plants! My copy is highlighted and written on all over with endless sticky notes! So just be forewarned if you are one who wouldn't dream of doing such things to a book.

Practical and Real Conjure
A book that actually tells you how to do things in a practical way. It also discusses the fact that anything you do , you are responsible for, and the prayers and ways of conjure are powerful and not to be taken lightly. Starr really gives a lot of teaching in this book. It is the best I have ever read about real root word and conjure. This will be a classic soon. Excellent ways to bring health, protection, and goodness into your life again.

The Real Deal
This is an excellent book on Conjure, also known as rootwork or Conjure. Starr Casas knows what she's talking about and has her head screwed onto her shoulders. She warns readers against "doing work" against people they just dislike or who haven't done enough to deserve such a response. The style is folksy and circular, which I appreciate. It's like hearing Casas speak. As in all oral traditions, there are repetitions and variations on a theme, meaning, by the end of the book you know the subject. Well done.

Great book as always.
Mama Starr did it once again. Though most of the information is already readable in her other books, this book goes deeper into those subjects. A book well worth the read for beginners and advanced practitioners alike.
