I’ve been using this MaxTite 200-Proof Denatured Alcohol as a fuel for camping stoves while backpacking, and its hands down one of the best fuels I’ve come across. First off, I have no idea how some people are comparing its smell to rubbing alcohol there’s no likeness to it at all. When burning, it produces no noticeable odor, which is a huge plus when you’re cooking outdoors. Unless you’re sniffing the open bottle, which would be odd, you’re not going to pick up any strong scent.What makes this fuel stand out is how clean and hot it burns. You don’t need to use a lot to get a long-lasting flame, which is great because if you overfill your stove, you’ll end up wasting fuel since you can’t just put it back into the container. This efficiency is ideal for camping, as it means you can carry less fuel without sacrificing cooking time.I understand that some people are using this product for cleaning, and they might notice a smell more than I do when burning it. But for those of us using it as a camping fuel, the lack of smell while burning and its clean, hot flame makes it a superior product. I use this for resin crafting. It takes away the stickiness on my fingers, resin molds and crafting utensils.
