Intercessions for Mass

The book is a great resource, but the book itself is difficult to work with. The binding is very stiff. If you need to have it open while typing it's tough.

The intercessions are beautiful and prayerfully crafted--they are a bit wordy, but align perfectly with the readings. The only critique I have is the binding. It literally broke the first time I opened the book...it is clearly not meant to open flat (which is what most people need while praying the intercessions at the ambo). I ended up having to have the whole thing rebound in a spiral notebook at staples. Other than that, the intercessions are worth it.

A notice to celebrants: there are no intros or closing prayers to these petitions.

- why not just ship it ring bound since that makes it SO much easier to use?- Mine had a couple of pages folded in and it looked like some pages had been substituted (corrections maybe?)- Prayers are very well written but there is some 70’s theology at times. They also run a bit long. I find myself adapting them slightly when delivering them during liturgies.

This collection is not meant to substitute for the work of composing prayers for a particular community but, for the person responsible for composing those prayers for daily Mass, it is a great foundation. I read over the prayers that Sister Mary Grace has composed to further ground me in the readings of the day, then build on them to fit the needs of the local community and current events. It is a great help when used in this way.

The intercessions are beautifully written and correlate to the day's readings. There is also a section (which we call the "proper") for the particular feast or saint of the day. It is a great resource to have for the liturgy! I highly recommend it.

Have you ever felt like you've fallen into a rut with the General Intercessions and are simply hearing "variations of the same intercessions" over and over again, especially at daily Mass? Not that the "variations on a theme" prayers are bad, not at all, but as a Catholic Priest I appreciate how well the intercessions in this book integrate the themes and messages of the daily Mass in new and meaningful ways.

This book has become a very worthwhile resource. Sometimes I use the prayers straight from the book, other times they help me to formulate and customize my own prayers.A very helpful Liturgy tool. I would certainly recommend it.

This book has been used regularly at Mass since its purchase. Some of the prayers are lengthy but are always relevant to the readings which is important. It allows the reader choice, if needed, and still gives scope to add prayers for current changing situations.I wish it had been spiral bound to lie flat on the lectern, but all in all we are pleased with the format.
