Lovely Docs
I am a true size 8 1/2. I have always sized down, not up with boots, regardless of the brand. These are no exception. A size 8 (8 US/6UK) in these gives me plenty of room for two pairs of socks, or one thick pair if that's what's preferred (with boots I always prefer one long thin pair and a short regular pair over those. I've found that it not only provides the most comfort, but also prevents blisters vs wearing one thick pair). These shoes are heavier than any other boots I've ever owned. I haven't worn them for a long amount of time yet, so I don't know how that will contribute to fatigue. I can see the issue people are having with the laces and imagine if they're not tightened correctly that they will probably break easily. I haven't run into that as I tighten by each eyelet rather than just pull at the top. However, they are thin, so I don't imagine they will hold up to that forever. These do not feel like heels, rather they just feel like any old pair of docs, only hey, you're a little taller! Nice. They are beautiful. I looked them over for construction issues and cannot find any. If you're on the fence, get them. ***Update 9/12/19*** I wore these every night in NYC for a week, including a show that required me to stand on concrete for three hours. Here's my take aways from that: 1) A nanny crashed into my foot one night with a stroller. It was far worse for her than me, lol. In fact, I didn't feel it at all. She however was thrown back when the stroller hit the boot. One point for the Leonas. 2) One night it was wet and rainy, I was the only one not concerned about slipping. One point for the Leonas. 3) Due to the heel height, I had zero issues seeing over the heads of dudes at the show I went to. Leona wins this round too. 4) Despite the weight of the boots, after walking around in them for one night, I easily adjusted to them, and it was not a factor the remaining time. 5) I only had a minor issue with breaking in the toe area of the right boot. All other areas of the boots were fine/no other break-in issues and my feet are completely flat. Note: I do wear two pairs of socks with these types of boots (refer to my original review). 6) Some type of insole is definitely needed if you're going to walk around in these and/or stand for a long period of time. I use Spenco, but that's my preference since my feet are flat. I never thought I'd prefer any boots over my red docs, but hello Leona! These are definitely my new fave. ***Update 12/31/22*** It's years later and these Docs are still going strong. To my surprise, I haven't needed to replace the shoe strings. They look as amazing as the day I received them. I highly recommend these!

These are my most versatile Docs!
I have six pairs of Docs and this may very well be my new favorite. I have small, narrow feet, and some of the other Docs can make me look a bit Frankenstein-like at times. I also tend to like shoes with a bit of height so I can wear them with longer pants or even with skirts. I’m just not a “flats” gal. I previously got the Persephone Docs in oxblood red (the ones with the really high heel) and love the look of them - they’re like “dress” Docs. But after a while they are hard to walk in since the pitch of the shoe equates to about a 3.5” heel. Not great for all day walking/standing! But the Leonas...these babies solve for all of my needs! They have a slight pitch with about 2.5” of elevation overall (I’d say the pitch is only about 1/2 inch) which is enough for my longer pants and also enough to make them a bit more feminine while also giving me a bit of height. They are also cut a bit narrower than the unisex Docs, and have a more feminine shape through the forefoot. I could easily walk in these all day (once broken in). The leather is smooth, and I can imagine that if you laced these all the way up and walked a lot, it could rub on your ankles. I chose to lace mine only through the first 5 eyelets, leaving the top two empty. This allows me to get a broader range of ankle motion without rubbing, and I can also bend the tongue out a little at the top to help. Plus they look cool that way. I also swapped out the waxed laces for the wide satin laces, adding another feminine flair. Because the leather on these is so stiff I think they may take longer to break in, but they will be worth it. They just go with so many more things than my traditional Docs! Fit is your typical Doc - I wear a size 7 Women’s in US, and I ordered the 5 UK. As usual, they’re a little large, but not so big that I can’t wear them. If I go down to a 4 UK they are too short. I like having the room to put in an insole if I wish for extra arch support, and also to wear thicker socks. So even though they are a little narrower than other Docs, if you know your standard size in Docs I’d say you could stick with it in these and be just fine. Mine say they were made in Vietnam, not China like some of my other Docs.

Worth Every Penny
I finally decided to try Dr. Martens after hearing about them for years, and I completely understand the hype now. The quality is outstanding. The leather feels thick and durable, but it still softens up nicely once you start wearing them. They are incredibly well made and you can tell they’re built to last. The style is classic and goes with almost everything. I’ve worn them with jeans, leggings, and even casual dresses and they always look great. They give that perfect mix of edgy and timeless. The break-in period everyone talks about is real, but it’s honestly not bad if you wear thicker socks at first. Once they mold to your feet, they become very comfortable and supportive. If you’re on the fence, I would absolutely recommend them. They’re one of those purchases where you really do get what you pay for. These boots feel like something I’ll be wearing for years.

Best everyday shoe
I've had these for two years and they are my main everyday shoe. They are comfortable for pretty much every terrain, and they dress up well for nicer events. I've been hard on them, so they've scuffed up in a few places, and they're creased now, but that's on me. Honestly, I don't mind! I think it gives the boots character. They're super duper comfortable, though a little heavy. If you don't mind the weight, then they're perfect! Fit true to size. I got them on sale, but even at the regular price, they're excellent.

I would walk 500 miles...Look good feel good
I get a lot of compliments on these boots. You wouldn't think it, but laced up tight, with gel insoles and the right socks, these were the best choice for long walks on the hills, cliffs, beaches, rain, mud, and sand on the Gower in Wales in mid / late September. At one point we walked 20 miles in 3 days. These boots were stable and secure and my feet were happy at the end of the day. Sneakers / trainers would have been a wet slippery mess. I did have to get a gel insole because the footbed is very hard. The lacing up tight is a pain. Worth it. They have been great for the original reason I bought them, as well. I am short. When I have GA tickets to metal shows I put heel lifts under the insoles. It is so nice to be tall and able to see for a night. They did run a bit big for me. I have skinny feet and I never know when I am going to need a 7.5 or a 9. So I wear high quality heavy ski or hiking socks for yard work or skiing or whatever, all winter, and lace these up good and tight. Love them.

Got plenty of compliiments
The Boots are nice visually and the quality is very good. They are a little bit bigger than my usual foot size, but I would recommend to get your normal size because they work well with thick socks in the winter time. I once wore them with shorts socks and will never do that again.. High socks are best or you can get friction from the leather above ur ankles which can be an irritant. They are heavy in weight so not recommended if you have leg or feet issues. They give you a leg work out as it feels as if I am wearing weights around my ankle. I had to remind myself to pick my feet a little more while driving and pressing on the brakes of the car. They have weight to them. These are great for the young at heart. I recommend them as they are fashionable/ not my most comfortable yet, but I think after some wear and tear my feet will love them. The verdict is still out. I decided to return and get a full refund for them after realizing they were just too hefty big and it was never a matter of breaking them in. I suggest going a size down when ordering. The weight of these alone will give you a workout. But they are a fashion statement. Update : After a few wears I decided to rerun them and get a refund. Side note. Get a size smaller. Too big, heavy and clunky for me.

Sturdy and worth the price.
The boots are awesome. Both for style and in use. They put a nice pep in your step with how the sole is constructed and grip really well. I work in a warehouse doing 10 hour shifts and these worked out well. I would of course, recommend breaking these in before use at work, but I'm impatient. Over the course of the day the leather softened and started to mold to my body to the point they were loose when I got home and could be pinched down more. Overall, true to size, I wear a womens 9 in US and had no issues even with high arches. They kept my feet warm and comfortable all day and are really easy to lace and cinch. The laces also stay tied through the day.

Would purchase in every color!
First off, these boots are beautiful and I get so many compliments on them! They are also very comfy for the weight of the boot. They are heavy but only in comparison to a sneaker. They don't weigh anymore than your average leather boot with a chunky heal. Contrary to reviews, I ordered my standard size 8 in boots and they fit perfect! I think were people feel these boots rum large is that they aren't used to wearing boots. The boots are designed to be worn with a thicker sock which I would highly recommend. The first time I wore these out I couldn't find any of my boot socks and had to opt for a thinner pair which resulted in some rubbing on the back of my heal. Definitely not the worst boot break in I have experience though! Just remember they are leather and they will take some time to soften up. Also, these boots are more narrow than most other combat style boots that I own. Sizing up will not make the boot inherently wider either. I have narrow feet so this works in my favor but just be wary of that if you typically have to order a wide shoe. The laces are thinner and they are not my preferred style. I however had no trouble getting the boot tight enough with them though. I don't foresee them breaking by just lacing up the boots like people claim, but I did pick up a new pair for looks. I always start tightening them from the bottom though. You're never going to get the boot tight enough if you try to pull the laces through that many eyelets from the top.

Awesome
Fab boots! I have eight other pair of Dr Martensl shoes and they're all true to size. I honestly think that these are almost one size too big. It doesn't prevent me from wearing them. But my toes have ample room. I would buy these again, but I would size down next time

Beautiful boots
They're lovely boots. Nice height, feminine and very comfortable. The leather is soft and I imagine if the Size is perfect, they will fit like gloves. They're on the heavy side, where each weighs around 900ish gram. Sadly they're too big and my feet are swimming in them. Go down half size if you can. I have wide feet and these boots are perfect. Return on Amazon is great. Thank you
