I just fill it up near the top, set the timer to all the way on and then just walk away.However, the supplied plastic water catch container is not big enough to hold that much finished product of pure dustilled water when the timer is set on all the way. Instead, I had to buy a 128 oz/3785 ml glass container, (see picture), because this distiller produces so much distilled water.It doesn't overheat because the timer shuts it off before it has a chance to overheat. Other models I tried boiled all the water away until the internal electrical elements also can get fried and then they just stopped working.Also the cooling element is very high grade which makes it produce even faster.Sometimes while filling it up I accidentally hit the switch that turns it to the slow producing position. To avoid this from happening again I just put a small piece of electrical tape over the switch.Final UpdateBrown & Blue wires completely burned out. Extreme heat build up at the bottom heating element. It needs a 2nd cooling fan at the bottom area, more cooling vents, and heavy duty heat shielded wires.Because I like the timer device feature I decided to try and save it. I had to re-engineer the wiring that burned out. I upgraded to new 12 gauge wire thickness and rerouted the wires to come out of the cooler bottom instead of out of the hot side. I also drilled several new air cooling vents in the bottom. So far my re-design is working. If you're not a tech guy then I wouldn't advise trying to do my fix. It was rather complicated to do it.

I was missing a part. I contacted mxmoonant and they sent out the replacement immediately. Wish they had better operating instructions.

I had a pretty good laugh reading through the manual, and I’m still not sure what “dew” is, but for my purposes, this thing has worked great!!I use this to make my own distilled water. I hated paying two bucks a gallon at the grocery store, and I go through a lot of distilled water… So it adds up over time. But now that I have the ability to make my own, and I couldn’t be happier!If you’re just doing water, the process goes fairly quickly. Maybe a little over two hours, but other processes can take longer from my understanding. Before you know it, you’ll have, beautiful distilled water for all your humidifiers, various projects, or growing gourmet mushrooms, like I do. Also, the auto off feature is extremely nice, and I can set this thing up before I leave for work, and not worry that my house is going to burn down.The whole unit appears to be pretty good quality, and I don’t have any complaints so far. If anything changes I’ll come back and edit this post. Definitely recommend checking this thing out!

The media could not be loaded. I’m getting a small amount of distilled water?Not sure the lid popped up pushed it back down, make sure to push down all the way.Lid was cracked as well.

I received no instructions. I bought the essential oil separator & no oil is coming out. Just water!No idea what I’m doing wrong because there are no instructions !!

The instructions are very vague with this. It basically leaves you to guess time and speed via trial and error.Its also hard to clean. After each use there liquid trapped within the little radiator at the top. If you want to avoid bacteria or contamination then waste needs to be generated off each batch or run a cleaning before every use.I tried to distill a mead and it taste burnt. Perhaps better knowledge of options could help, but I don't have that. It was a success that the very dark mead came out clear and a higher abv by about 5%.

Works ok for hydrosol but does not make oil with attachment as instructions state.

Doesn’t save me time but definitely saves me money making my own distilled water for my humidifiers
