Great for Color Pencil!
I used this series of Strathmore back when I started with color pencils. I tried to look for them al my local art and craft store by I could not find them. It has just enough texture in the paper to grab more pigment from the pencils but still leaves a nice smooth finish. This paper is hands down my favorite to do color pencil drawings and I have not found any other yet that can match this paper. I placed an example of a still life I did years ago with this paper.

Great paper for color pencils!
This is a nice paper for color pencil. It holds multiple layers and blends well with enough tooth for overlays. Here’s an image of my drawing with Strathmore paper, Prismacolor and Derwent pencils.

Yes and No
The paper is good: however, the binder is not. It wants to come apart. It is not a mixed media paper. Buckled under watercolor.

Defective Pad??
I could not get this to work! My Prismacolor pencils and my Faber Castell oil Pitt pastel pencils would show up at all . I could only use certain colors and press extremely hard to get any color payoff, or blending .Was very strange .It’s like their was not grip or tooth on my paper at all.Maybe I got a defective batch? I love Stratmore brand and I am so disappointed.

Paper tears when you remove from pad
I really like this Bristol board but when you tear the sheets out of the book it is almost impossible to get the sheet out without a little bit of tearing along the attached side. Others that I have used, if you turn the page a couple of times it can be easily removed with no damage. I’m not sure if there was extra glue on mine holding the pages in or if it melted at some point. It is nice paper, as long as you don’t tear it out of the pad.

Not happy
I believe the product is okay, only the condition it arrived in. It arrived buckled and im not sure if it will ever lay flat. This is not a good thing for working on it, framing it or for the final results of hours of work on a art piece. Not thrilled about this.

Strathmore Hits a Home Run!
Strathmore has a home run with this product. Perfect for colored pencils and charcoal because of the lovely velum finish.

Three Stars
After painting on this it curls terribly into a tube shape. Not for wet media.

Great for pencil drawing
This is nice, heavy paper with an upmarket feel to it.After trying the 400 series Bristol for the first time with this purchase, I’ve found that I don’t like the vellum finish on these for ink drawing — even though 300 series vellum works really well. Nibs — especially mapping nibs for dip pens — get hung up and tear tiny bits off the paper leaving you with a clump on the end, and rapid o graph style pens to a lesser extent, too.But the texture makes for superb pencil shading and you can build up nice values easily — it’s better for this than the 300 series.Pencil and graphite powder erases nicely on this paper — great for highlights. It’s slightly off white though. I don’t mind this as it means a touch of white gouache really pops if you use it to accent lit areas.

Trying a new sketchbook
Paper feels nice and smooth, but not as nice, in my opinion, as other smooth drawing papers.
