Originally released in September 1991, 'Use Your Illusion II' is the fourth studio album by the American band, released on the same day as its counterpart, 'Use Your Illusion I'. Although the band did not abandon the aggressive hard-rock sound they had become known for with 'Appetite For Destruction' (1987), 'Use Your Illusion II' demonstrated a new-found musical maturity, incorporating elements of blues, classical music, heavy metal, punk rock, and classic rock and roll. In addition, 'Use Your Illusion II' is more political than most of their previous work. Features the singles 'You Could Be Mine', 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door', 'Yesterdays', 'Civil War' and 'Estranged'.

Incredibly powerful music - made better
These remasters - Illusion I and ii have been very well done. The music sounds as if it was recorded last week. Unlike a lot of remasters where the bass or keyboards or lead guitar have been over emphasised, I think these have been done very carefully to ensure balance. For me, who bought the albums on their release in '91 it's great that they have retained the power and punch that the original albums had. Only downside is the packaging. Whilst probably as good as the original albums, it would have been good to have some information on the making of the albums and the relationships between band members that drove this creativity. All we get is a bunch of phot's, and at my age I'm just not that kind of fanboy.

Disappointing.
The alleged better of the two Illusion albums. Again the difference in sound is not as noticeable as I expected.

Remastered
Got this back in the day and was well impressed. With my 63 year old ears, what was the fuss all about? An ok vocalist with a killer lead guitarist and impressive rhythm section, that's what. To these ears the new remaster adds nothing new, but takes nothing away either. Got this because I got the first volume cheap in a sale and just needed to complete the pair. The Appetite For Destruction remaster was a better buy IMHO.
