I originally bought an alternative cat flap based on my boys sizes and weights, but having fitted it, it soon became obvious that it was far too small. I don't think my boys are excessively large, they are Siamese cross and weigh 6-6.5kg. I genuinely did not believe they would need a large cat flap - but I was wrong. This cat flap is excellent quality and fits beautifully in our wooden kitchen door. Absolutely no draught gets through, but it is still easy enough for the boys to push. The locking mechanism could perhaps be simpler, but once you suss out how it works, it's no big deal. It's a very solid, quality item. My boys are 3 years old and had never used a cat flap before, with the exception of the previous purchase that was too small. Having struggled with that one, I wondered if it would put them off trying with this one, but the initial hesitance lasted no more than a few hours before they realised they could get through this one so much easier. I admit, the original cat flap was cheaper, but you can't put a price on your cats happiness, and it's not as if this was overpriced, it is worth every penny. Definitely recommended.

We wanted a slightly larger cat flap to install on our new solid oak internal door, allowing our cats to move freely around the house once they come in from outside. The cat flap came with a template, was easy to install, and worked like a dream. The profile of the cat flap is really slim and not bulky at the edges, making it look more seamless when fitted into the door. It's well-made and large enough for the biggest cats. I would thoroughly recommend this product and so would my cats.

Whilst I love this cat flap for its look and price point and the fact it's big enough for my large ragdoll, I've taken a star off for the locking mechanism as I found my cats kept getting locked in or out as they were accidentally moving the locks when they were going through it. In the end I removed the locks as I don't really need them anyway and I was too worried about them getting locked out. My cats are not very intelligent 🤣 however it only took 2 days to become fully fledged cat flap users, now there's no stopping them! I can't didn't fit this myself, I paid a builder to do it and it only took him about 30mins so it was pretty easy , but I don't have the knowledge how or the tools so I wouldn't have attempted it myself. It went easily into a composite door with moulded panels, he just used a really high quality silicone.

After much research and hours spent reading the various product reviews I purchased this cat flap a few months ago for my two cats, one of whom is quite a large British Shorthair. I am so glad I bought this large cat flap as there is no way he would fit through a smaller one! It took about 3 weeks before both cats got the hang of using it but, now that they do, it is brilliant. No longer do they wake me up at 3am each morning to be let out, they simply let themselves out whenever they want to. It is also very sturdy and doesn't let in any draughts, even in the strongest of gales. This was one of my concerns, having never had a cat flap before. I only wish I bought it years ago! As it is quite sturdy, the cats have to give it a bit of a push to open it, hence it took my smaller cat longer to get the hang of but, now that he is used to it, he is fine with it. It was also easy enough to install. My brother in law fitted it with no problems. I am very pleased with this cat flap and would definitely recommend it to others.

This cat flap proved easy to fit and works well. Comes with necessary fixings and can be locked in various ways to prevent access or only allow access one particular way. Unfortunately, my cat doesn’t seem to want to push it open himself, he just sits there looking out or in, waiting for us to open it for him!! We are working on that. We considered getting a more sophisticated sensor type model, but read that these can sometimes malfunction and lock the cat in or out, so went for the more traditional basic model instead. If and when he finally twigs he can operate it himself, this will be a great purchase.

I bought the large size model as our two cats are giant bruisers - 6 and 7 kilos respectively and it was just as well as the normal size would have definitely been too small! It was easy enough to fit - I'm no DIYer but I managed to fit this ok in a wood panel garden gate. the instructions aren't the best - make sure you read carefully as I ended up drilling holes that were too large but rectified it by bolting it together with retaining nuts rather than using the supplied screws. In action it works well; I only lock it when we're away as "the boys" like to come and go at all other times. The flap has a light action and our moggies love being able to look through it. the magnet is strong enough to hold the flap in place in all but the strongest winds. I wouldn't like to say what the lifespan is likely to be but it's been outdoors in all weathers for nearly six months at the time of writing this review and other than being a bit dirty and dusty (we live on a building site at the moment) it looks and works absolutely fine. Loses a star for the instructions but absolutely fine in use - if all you want is a cheap, basic catflap then I can recommend this.

Had this for about 6 months now and still works great! Our one also says 'Closer Pets' not 'Cat Mate' on the actual product which we like as we use it for dogs. We put this on the door to the garden Summer House so our Yorkshire Terrier and Mini Dachshund can go in and out freely. Works as intended. Took a few days of encouragement for the yorkie but now both use it multiple times a day every day. It seems to be just the right height for both to use without straining up/down and both have been known to sprint out if they hear something of interest outside. So, I would say it's hardy enough for our uses. Only complaint really is that the draft excluding part of the flap did freeze up when it was wet and frosty outside and I had to give it a hard push to break the ice and clean. For me, this is not so much an issue as our dogs are not outside at night but I can imagine for outdoor cats this might be an issue. So, if you are prone to cold climates and want to rely on this flap to let your cat inside during the night I would suggest keeping up with keeping it as dry and clean as possible before bed to give it the best chance of being able to swing throughout the night. It also comes with a template made of card so you know how big of a hole to cut which was also very handy. It's tinted on the outside so you can't see in but you can see out which our dogs like so they can stalk the birds outside without getting cold in the winter haha. For needs similar to mine, I would reccomend.

For what you’re getting good value for money cons i found the screws to be a bit small worried they come lose over time the locking tabs are only operable from the exterior, which may limit convenience or security

In het oude huis had ik dit kattenluik ook, mijn kat is groot en gaat hier gemakkelijk doorheen, de andere bleef in mijn oude woning en bij verhuizing heb ik deze opnieuw aangeschaft. Mijn kater Sam houdt niet van de klik van een luikje met een chip scanner en deze is gewoon handmatig te bedienen met en in verschillende standen .

Tengo esta puerta instalada en una pared de cemento muy gruesa que da al jardín. Como los gatos no tenían la costumbre de salir por ahí, tuve que quitarles su desconfianza dejándoles la puerta abierta y medio abierta por varias semanas hasta que se acostumbraron. Una vez que el primero salió y entró sin mi ayuda, el segundo hizo lo mismo. Ahora ya es su entrada y salida habitual. Funciona bien, es bastante silenciosa y no deja pasar el frío. Para mi ha sido una liberación y supongo que para los gatos también. Espero que dure mucho porque tuve que encargar la instalación a un albañil profesional y pagué mucho más de lo que costó la puerta. En paredes y puertas normales supongo que eso no sería necesario.
