Helps a lot before painting wooden cabinets
This product works perfectly as described, after sanding down the kitchen cabinets and drawers the surfaces were wiped down clean and dried, the stain blocker was applied and 250ml is a perfect sized tin to apply across the whole kitchen and still have product left over. We applied the paint and the primer made it so much easier for the paint to stick leaving a much better finish. No strong smells were left over. Great value and quality for moneys worth.

Use the primer AND then paint!
Works a treat but do bear in mind that you'll need a few coats. Best done over a few days to allow the primer to dry between coats. NEXT you need to paint over the primer! I think this is the step a lot of people seem to miss.

Water based paint, easy to apply.
Used this product to cover water stains on an interior ceiling. It took three coats to cover the stain but I was happy in the end.

Does what it says on the lable
I used this paint on the horrible old cheap, brown wood doors in my flat. I had painted two doors not using this paint, even though I used sugar soap to clean them before hand and rubbed them gently with sandpaper, between coats, so the paint had a good bond. The brown kept bleeding through and caused it to look yellow. A friend recommended that I use a stain blocker. Found this one on Amazon and the reviews were very good for this product. It arrived the next day and I tried it out on a door which was still in original colour. Paint went on easily and was thick enough as to not drip off the brush much so the groundsheet was still relatively clean. It drys quite quickly so it allowed me to add a coat of gloss on top. Checked it out next day, I was well happy with the finished door. I am well happy as I was able to get on and finish all of the doors with just one coat of the Rustins paint and one using the gloss. Definitely recommended to stop old paint bleeding through and ruining the finish of the new paint

But almost twice the price of Kilz 3 Premium Interior Exterior. Rustins is made in the United Kingdom. It's extremely thick and dries quickly, so any of it applied has to be smoothed out immediately--if it isn't a hard glob or ridge will develop in seconds. Kilz dries quickly, too, but it's thinner and easier to work with. I bought the Rustins for a bedroom painted an extremely dark blue-green that had the paint slopped on so that the stains weren't originally visible. First I sanded with a Makita 18v jitterbug, then two thin skim coats of plaster to even up the plowed field surface--that's when numerous black stains appeared thru the white plaster. The Rustins was first applied with a roller on the large area that had numerous black stains 1/2 inch diameter and smaller, and on scattered small stains. Some still showed black and had to be coated a second, third and fourth time with a small brush. That's when I knew it was no better than Kilz. The can had a rough life with numerous brutal dents by the time I got it. The lid wasn't fully tapped close and dried flakes were on the lid when opened. A small amount of hard dried paint was in the box.
